Help me fine tune my engine build plans! 2.0L ITB turbo DIS water injection!
It's never too early to plan out an engine build. After reading, wrenching, and reading some more, I'm ready to build an engine. This is going to be for my daily driver (91 LS), which I plan on autocrossing, and maybe doing an occasional road race of some sort. I'm a throttle response *****, I love low end/midrange torque (don't tell me to get a v8), and I plan to go turbo. I don't make tons of money, so it's going to have to get pieced together slowly. As far as power goals go, I don't really know. I want it to be built and tuned reliably first and foremost, and for it to have some nice power second. I'd like it to run very well on 93 octane with water injection. Here's some specs I want the engine to have:
BOTTOM END:
-B series 84 or 85 mm (at least 2.0L)
-10-10.5:1 compression ratio?
-CP pistons
-B17a crank (? i dunno good/bad? help)
-Honda bearings
-Honda oil and water pumps
-ATI damper
-ARP bolts (do i need them?)
I don't know what to go with for rods, oil pump gears (aftermarket?), block girdle, sleeve job, and oil pan.
TOP END:
-DIY ITBs w/ turbo (like tony the tiger, y0)
-Crower cams (custom?)
-Head work ?
-Cometic head gasket (will OEM be fine?)
Like I said, I don't know if I should go VTEC or non-VTEC. I kinda like the idea of not having vtec. I don't know what valves to go with, what kind of head work I should get done, what kind of cam gears to get, etc. If I did go non-VTEC, I'd definitly go with a P8R head, the one with 33mm intake valves, same size as VTEC heads.
TURBO SYSTEM:
-Aquamist water injection (or possibly alcohol or propane) i dunno
I don't know what turbo to get, what intercooler to get, what manifold to get, etc. I would like to have a turbo that has both oil and coolant inlets. I want something that will spool up quick. I'm not looking for a crazy huge turbo that makes a billion horsepower at 7000 rpm.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT/FUEL SYSTEM/IGNITION:
-Hondata S300 unless I need AEM EMS
-OBD1
-RC or DSM injectors (size?)
-Walbro 255HP fuel pump
-Marshall presure gauge
-B&M fuel pressure regulator
-MSD
-Distributorless ignition setup if possible
-------------------------------------
I'm guessing I'd need to go with AEM EMS, considering the water injection and the distributorless ignition. We can discuss tranny/clutch/flywheel plans later.
Well, what do you guys think? PLEASE, let's try to keep this within the bounds of serious technical discussion.

if you want distributorless then forget the s300. you might want to look into one of the love fab manifolds with short runners , and also one of the gt series turbos that are water and oil cooled with the advavtage of bb (quick spool). for the itb's deff. hit up tony to get some advice. good luck with everything.
