Default Fuel filter install - fuel pressure ???

Go to second paragraph for main question or stay here and read the background story..lol.
Alright, quick story....bought a B&M fuel gauge, needed crush washers, didn't want to spend the $4/piece when they come with a new fuel filter from honda for $32. I had an Autozone gift card so I went there today and bought a luber finer fuel filter. I took off the original with almost 130K on it (dirty gas inside) and noticed that the banjo bolt that holds down the ring hose had a washer on top and bottom of it (hope this makes sense). When I installed the Autozone one I noticed it looked as if the filter had a built in washer. I went against my urges and installed both crush wahsers, one on the bottom and one on the top (banjo bolt). it leaked, removed the lower washer and it leaked slightly. Tightened the **** out of it and it doesn't leak or can't see the tiny leak/vapors.

Main ??
Now for the question...I've read about honda's having between 28-36PSI of fuel on the gauge while running (I have 32PSI steady). When I shut the car off, it slowly decreases, is this normal or do I have a leak somewhere? When I also turn the key to the second position (not starting it) the pressure is almost 40PSI, but slowly goes down if the car doesn't start. When started, it's steady.

thanks.

Bump - you mean to tell me out of all you **** on this forum no one installed a FP gauge and can't take literally 4 minutes to pop your hood, turn the key all the way without starting the car and check the pressure, let it sit for about 1 minute and let me know if it starts to slowly drop. The start the car and check the pressure (which should be stable), push the Throttle on the TB and see it rev up and pressure increase but drop back to the stable 30 something PSI.

Props for any fellow H-T who can hook a brother up. Every one needs a bone once and a while, so goddamit throw me one so I don't blow up!!!!

Last bump for good. I am shocked that nobody has a fuel pressure gauge installed. I guess a lot of members' pics aren't really their cars.

I don't have one. However sounds normal to me. There are two readings for fuel pressure one with the vacuum hose connected and one with it disconnected. Usually there is about 8 to 10 lbs difference.

About it slowly dropping that is normal too. If it drop's quickly is when there is a problem.

If you want answers ask with respect. And give it a little time. Also shorten your questions so we don't have to read a book. Sometimes we are lazy.

And yes that is my car in my av.

Thanks for getting back to me on this, I appreciate it. I tried to be as patient as possible but was getting nowhere and the threads here sink quick.

I hear ya on the laziness, that's why I tend to do cliff notes (second paragraph)..lol.

Thanks and now I can sleep at night, off to post a different issue. Mini me is busting ***** like you wouldn't believe.

Thanks again.

What engine and what mods do you have (adj. FPR)?

When I give it gas (using the throttle rotor under the hood) it surges to about that but comes down when idle and is very stable at about 31.5 - 32PSI.

I don't know if all series should be the same, but the Y8 in the honda book is suppose to be between 28-34PSI.

every thing in you main question is right you do not have a leak the stock pressure regulator will blead off some pressure after some time.

the reason no one has posted is cause you posted alot of unneeded info! Firstly any reduction in f/p while at a constant is going to cause a leak somewhere in you fuel system. Here are the basics for a honda fuel system

Fuel pressure with the vacuum hose disconnected at idle should be 42.5 psi and thats it. Any other problems are bigger that what you are dealing with!!

the system should hold that consistantly!! if not you have a leak! Yes you should have a copper washer above and below the fitting.
