Floor jack
I'm in the market for another one, as my Crapsman crapped out on me from a leaking seal. Are there any suggestions for a broke college student? Husky, Schucks, Vatozone, etc. are where I'm looking at. I know they're simple parts stores but I've read of people getting a part-store-China-special and having it last a long time with a bag of replacement seals and everything . No balling business please , 2 tons minimum, thanks .

DO NOT buy this jack! We bought 2 for work and there are tons of better choices out there. The hydraulic piston is weak and it has a very low lift height - about 3" lower than any others out there. I bought a Torin steel unit from Pep Boys for about $100. It has a low deck height (great for lowered cars) and raises up to about 18". It's steel, so its heavy as hell, but it's in my home garage, so I don't have to move it too often.

i bought some cheap and crappy "race jack" from walmarks for less than 50 bucks.
by "race jack" i meant one that is made for lowered cars. ive used it over 10 times and it still works fine.

Re: (homey dont play dat)
I know exactly which craftsman jack the op has. I'm willing to bet it's the same one I have and every single person that buys this piece of **** jack gets fuked over when it stops working. What an ungodly piece of ****. I hope this jack burns in hell.

Re: (ILcrxsi1)
My previous floor jack was a 2 1/2 (I think) ton Harbor Freight. It leaked after about 4 months of occasional use.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but it seems that the leaky seals seem to be common regardless of brand. My Craftsman seems to be doing OK after a year of occasional use *knocks on wood*. It's just the regular 3 ton jack, not the one ILcrxsi1 linked.

why not just replace the seals?
are you even sure you need the seal? most of the time it just air in the system.
when my crapsman took a dump i just change the oil and bleed the air, it works like new now(3 years, used all the tiem)

Yeah, it seems to plague the whole range of models from the cheap to the high-priced. I've been using my emergency jack that came with the car to raise one side then put a jackstand on it and repeat the steps on the other side, as it's a lot less headache than using the Crapsman doorstopper .
I wante to try the one from NAPA but there seems to be no warranty on it while Schucks does have a one year thing with their product.

Contradicting reviews like this makes me wary of getting a jack since I was about to head to Harbor Freight this week! I appreciate it very much though because they're helping with my decisions. I think I might look at Walmart or Schucks later on.
iam7head, the seal kit runs for about $50 and Sears sometimes does not carry it. As for how I know, underneath the lever, I noticed oil seeping out everytime I give it a pump so I'm thinking the seals are gone.

Re: (NuRon)
i have a crappy jack that i bought from discount auto parts. not sure on the brand but it was under $100 i remember that. it was yellow. i've had it for about 6 years now. no problems yet. seems like its getting a little weak but still gets the job done.
