Hi, ive recently bought a 1998 UK spec Honda Integra, Type R DC2. Engine code- B18c6.

The car has a missfire on cylinder one. Ive ran the flash codes. Ive got missfire cylinder 1 (which you can hear by just running the car) and crankshaft fluctuation sensor. Could anyone point to me the location of the crankshaft fluctuation sensor? A detailed diagram would be great.

I have removed the crankshaft pully thinking it was in there but no joy.

I don't believe the Jdm or UK engines have them. If they don't you can bypass them:

here is mine with pully off. If i dont have one why would i be getting the code for it?

That engine did not come with one, meaning it is pre-1996 or OBD-1. Your ECU is obviously OBD-2 hence the problem. If the timing covers look original to the engine there would be wire harness guides built into it specifically for that sensor but I'm guessing yours does not have those. The bolt hole in the immediate of where the sensor should be looks like where the timing cover bolts to, and there is no exist point for the harness.

If there are no other trouble codes the misfire will need to be diagnosed separately as they are unrelated problems.

Thanks for the replys guys as this is now starting to wreck my head!

I was informed by the last owner that he blew the original engine and fitted another. The ECU was never changed. This would probably explain why i am getting a code for the crankshaft fluctuation sensor!

Im not sure whether or not its worth my while getting 'p' codes if the engine is pre 1996 and my ecu is obd2? Surely this will throw a series of codes that are not actually there but are showing because of engine and ecu difference?

Do you guys think i should get an ECU to suit the engine? If so, could you guys advise me on which one? Or even still, advise me on what step to take next?
