b16a swap -- RUNNING PROBLEMS- confused
We just had a first gen b16 put into a 95 civic dx coupe. The motor has been completely rebuilt with new ctr oversize pistons/ crane stage 1 cams/ crane titanium valve springs and retainers/ all new gaskets- bearings etc.../ and we used the obd1 sohc vtec ecu (p28 i think) that has been remapped. The motor now starts and idles ok but will not rev above 3,200 rpms. It seems like it starts to choke at that point. 3 error codes show up -- 1 for a fuel injector and 2 for the vtec solenoid. Those don't seem like problems that would limit the motor from revving. When starting fluid is sprayed into the intake man the car will rev much higher --- Anyone got any ideas? or seen this before???? PLEASE HELP -- we've spent so much on this engine already. oh -- its running on a gsr distributor and injectors.
HELP HELP HELP HELP!!!!
thanks guys

You need to make sure you match your OBD's between your engine and car because a first gen b16 is obd0 and your car is obd1. So you need to convert your engine to obd1.
a fist gen b16 is obd 0 and uses a obd0 pr3 ecu. But your car is obd1 so you need to covert using obd1 gsr or obd1 b16 injectors and dist and you need a obd1 p30 ecu. if your using the 1 gen b16 inj they will be fried because the 95 civics dont have resistor boxes for the OBD0 injectors.

What code numbers are you getting exactly?
There are a few possibilities,
You have a wiring problem, fix the soleniod code and check all of the wiring.
Your remapped ecu was not programmed correctly, try a known good ecu.
You have faulty injectors, replace with known good parts or thave them cleaned and tested.
You are overlooking something related to fuel delivery, go over everything twice.
You have a bad distributor, replace with a known good part.

I had that problem with a friends CRX B16 swap. Well, nobody plugged in the IAC valve. Dont know why, but it caused the ECU to limit the revs to 3k.
