98 Civic B18 swap wont start
Recently did a tranny swap a couple weeks ago, and car has been running great. Now it wouldnt start today, figured it was the battery, so i replaced it and still nothing. Starter just clicks alot when turning the key. Was told to check if the headlights dim when turning the key and they dont. (could be ignition switch i was told). Then decided to Jump the starter with the key in the on position, and sparks of course, but still just the clicking sound. I had my wife try with my hood popped so i could see if anything else is happening and the ground wire from the car to the tranny had a spark come off it. If anyone knows what could be the problem please if anyone can help! Also just to add, the only recent things ive done is today i replaced a Coolant hose cause it had a hole.

Picking up a new starter today. Would the ignition switch be bad at the same exact time since the headlights are not dimming down when trying to start?

Does the car start if you jump the starter to the battery?

Any "sparking" at/from a ground lead indicates a poor ground connection.
A starter motor that just "clicks" can also be an indication of a poor ground, or poor connections in the solenoid...

As mentioned, redo the main grounds, DO NOT just eyeball them or just tighten them, [disconnect, clean and reconnect], if that does not solve the starting problem test the circuit...

Good luck, feel free to IM me if you have questions. 94

Re: 98 Civic B18 swap wont start
No the car dont start when jumping the starter. But i randomly went down to my garage today and decided to try to start it again, and it started right up. Auto store said they think the solenoid is bad, and to just replace the starter. Also randomly driving it to the parts store, my RPM's shot all the way up on there own.... Bad TPS? i shut the car off and tapped on it with the handle of a screwdriver and it seems to be working fine now. just another thing to add to the list of this car.
Thanks FCM, ill pull the grounds off and clean them. see if that helps with it
