1st gen b16a O2 sensors?????
I need to put 2 O2 sensors on my DC header attached to a jdm 1st gen b16a. Should I put each one on a primary (ie cylinders 3 & 4) or should I try to get them each at the bottom of the first Ys which would be cylinders 1+4 and 2+3. I thought the stock manifold was 1+3 and 2+4 but im not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks guys!

Stock is also 1+4 and 2+3.
I need to get this done too, so I'm also interested to know.

ok so its my understanding that the primary sensor is the 2+3 and the secondard is the 1+4. Is this correct? I cannot seem to find a jdm manual. The only one i could find was for a jdm civic sir in pdf format that someone is selling on ebay. I wonder if thats even legal.

Thanks that helps a lot but I still have one more question:
Which O2 sensor is the primary (C16) and which is the secondary (C8) in a Pr3 or Pw0 ecu? One of them is monitoring cylinders 1&4 while the other monitors 2&3. Which is which?

that is - it wont matter.
will it? teh both measure O2 content at the same place, but should not be on the paired cylinders,
that is, one should monitor 1&4 the other should monitor 2&3.
i dont think the ECU would be able to tell the difference...

(if you REALLY need to know, i will check for you...)
PS here is the ECU pin outs if you are interested:

as you can see, they are maked #1 and #2 not primary and secondary...

Actually I have ready on this board several times that if you wire them backwards you get bad fuel economy and the engine feels weaker. However I have never seen the correct configuration shown.

again, I already know that C16 is #1 and C8 is #2 but which is which on the manifold? Is #1 on 1&4 or is it on 2&3?

i have read if you join both together you get bad milage, but never because they are reversed...
i do note that they thave DIFFERENT plugs and sockets so the cant be reversed stock, so there must be a reason...
ill go home and check my ex. manifold for you tonight... (ie 8hrs from now.)

Re: 1st gen b16a O2 sensors????? (Booger's_Rex)
so the white plug goes to the right side and the green plug goes to the left side?
That would mean the white aka O2#1 plug goes to the 4&1 primaries located on the crank pulley side of the car while the green aka O2#2 plug goes to the 2&3 primaries located on the tranny side of the manifold? Thats all I need to know

Re: 1st gen b16a O2 sensors????? (Lyonel)
wait now im even more confused. That pic shows the green connector on 1&4 and the white connector on 2&3, so is the green connector O2 sensor #1? Or is the white connector #1?

Re: 1st gen b16a O2 sensors????? (erniecars)
Ok i figured it out after much much much research.
O2 sensor #1 is:
C16 on the PR3 or PW0 ecu
GREEN connector
monitors cylinders 1 & 4
O2 sensor #2 is:
C8 on the PR3 or PW0 ecu
WHITE connector
monitors cylinders 2 & 3
the USDM b18a configuration is set up with the WHITE connecor in C18 so thats where the confusion was but I think I accidentally wired mine correctly

...and then comes the problem when you want to run a 4-1 or Turbo.
I researched it for quite a while ..for a yr or so being a PR3 owner.
It is much better to convert to OBD1 if you want to run 4-1 manifold of any kind.

if you go the $$$ to turbo, just get a chip that ignores the O2 sensors. I have one but it sucks up a lot of gas.

Shamless pluggy
yeah, if anyone needs their PR3 ecu reprogrammed w/ these disabled sensors:
- knock sensor
- 2nd 02
- vtec pressure switch
...email/PM me
Click on the JHP/ECU link below for more info.

Re: Shamless pluggy (Katman)
If anyone wants to convert to OBD1 to get out of old technology and be able to run 4-1 header or Turbo while maintaining stock closed loop operation, its easy.
Get the following:
-OBD1 ECU
-OBD1 or OBD2 Distributor
-OBD1 O2 sensor (its 4-wire heated)
And then look for Jason K, here at Honda-Tech, for the conversion harness. His screename is Blown90hatch. The harness is simply plug&play no joke! ..just have to have the above parts installed and in working condition.
I dont know of any other Honda board that provides such wealth of info.
