aftermarket rear sway bar w/ stock front sway bar?
quick question. im trying to install front and rear ST sway bars. now the rear went in no problem but with the front i can not get the bushings with the mounting brackets to line up with stock mounting holes. (its like the bar bends too early). possibly i got shipped the wrong bar. so my question is will i be ok with running the aftermarket ST rear sway bar with my stock front sway bar. until i can get this figured out. i really dont wanna take the rear one back out and put the stock one in. thanks for any help.

Most of us never change the front bar to a thicker one, and many change to a smaller one, or remove it entirely, when upgrading the rear.
You'll be fine with a stock front and aftermarket rear bar, assuming you don't have an unusual spring rate setup that mandated a super stiff front ARB.

Though, I suppose you should define "big". A stiff enough one could make the car dangerous for the average driver under some conditions, but commonly available bars aren't that stiff.
Why are these questions being asked anyway? Don't you guys understand what a swaybar does? Two people asking if it is ok to put a larger rear bar on without touching the front, but no one mentions why they think it wouldn't be ok in the first place...

the only bar you can use without a reinforcement is the 19mm ST bar, it comes with a minor brace and has been proven to be base integra safe. it's also a pretty good match with the stock front

i was asking cause i did some searches and was getting mixed answers. some things i read said it could give you major understeer, and a chance wrecking your car, some others agreed, and then i got other answers saying yes it was ok. also same time i swaped out sway bars i installed 2.0" proggress lowering springs w/ kyb gr-2 struts. shoulda mentioned that to start with.

also, to the last post on "i get all these different answers" well learn about how spring rate and suspension works and it will make much more sense. it's not just slapping parts, bars are like springs, their size and rate effects what the car does.

beaks makes nice bars, but a tie bar is needed or any subframe brace when using a thick bar.
OP, what diameter bar is in the rear

The ST bar comes with hardware that is essentially the same as the old BSQ kit for mounting an OEM ITR rear bar. Works fine on 94-01 Integras.
Beaks does not make any sway bars. They sell OEM ITR and CTR bars and maybe others along with their mount kits. For 92-95 Civics and 94-01 Integras you can safely run up to a 23mm rear bar using aftermarket reinforcement plates such as those from Beaks. A full-width bar such as from ASR or Function7 certainly isn't a bad idea, but it's not totally required to prevent subframe tear out like it is on 96-00 Civics.

A larger rear swaybar can cause oversteer. Same as stiffer rear springs.
Now, on an otherwise stock FWD Honda, that "oversteer" will only occur under lift throttle conditions, which is a good thing for a skilled driver, but potentially dangerous with an idiot behind the wheel.

or hitting the brakes in a corner... hell that can even with a stock sway bar Gotta be careful around on-ramps and other hard corners when it's wet.

You should never need to hit the brakes in a corner, because you should have dropped to the necessary speed of the corner before turning in.
You should never lift off the throttle while cornering hard in traction limited conditions, because you should have turned in at the correct speed.
So, I stand by my previous statement.

Well yea... but you do have those situations where somebody brakes suddenly in front of you while coming around the ramp, or some other similar situation. Stuff happens...

Re: aftermarket rear sway bar w/ stock front sway bar?
Nope all their sway bar kits actually come with an OEM ITR bar, and the mount plates. They do not make a kit with a full-width reinforcement bar like the ASR. But as I said this isn't really required on 94-01 Integras or 92-95 Civics. 96-00 Civics really need the full width plate. Even though I believe Beaks may have redesigned the 96-00 Civic kits, IMHO the full width plate is better on those car due to the thinner, weaker metal used on the subframe.
