Re: Socal Detailer for Hire (DC2 R guy)
I was called to prep this car for the largest AC Cobra-GT40 show/track day of the year.
The paint was nearly flawless so I just applied 2 layers of sealant. The engine bay took me about 4 hours to complete.
The owner was very nice, even gave me a beer and a cuban cigar while we chewed the fat.
Check it out...
Leather needs to be conditioned and that AC wheel needs to be polished...
Wheels need to be polished as well...
Engine bay before...
This wheel really needs a polish..
Wheel wells getting cleaned and dressed...
Valve cover before...
Valve cover after...
Half of this exhaust is done, can you see it?
I really like how the valve covers came out..
Engine bay done!
Ok, onto the steering wheel and interior...
DONE!
The sun goes down and we are left with a flawless beauty..
Now since this Cobra is going to a track day, we cant forget the static cling decals...

Actually buffing can be done at any time, fresh paint is always buffed by the body shops to achieve a flawless finish.
Wax or sealant cannot be applied to fresh paint...the paint needs to exasperate gasses for at least a month

Re: Socal Detailer for Hire (mitsuman)
Is it looking ok Jonathan?? Let me know how it looks
I'm still uploading pics from this weekend BUT...
Here's a detail from a few weeks ago...
So my good friend went on vacation for 2 weeks and left me his WRX for a full restoration...check it out!
So we start with the engine....
All done...
Now interior...
DIRTY!
Everything on the headliner was removed...
Brushed and steam cleaned...
Clock shows fading...
Gone.
He was also wondering why his sub was rattling so much...
Ok we're done here,
Onto the exterior...
After a wash, we pulled the wing off to work on it individually
The wing was BAD!!!
Let's tape it off....
There we go!
Shine comes through!
Compared to this side,
Hood scoop is oxidized and swirled...
I worked on the exterior panels at night...
here are some half/half shots
So the final result...
We kept the wing off for now
Tinted his tail lamps as a bonus!

Re: Socal Detailer for Hire (mitsuman)
This G35 was recently purchased by Jonathan (mitsuman) so I was called to restore the finish
Before and After of the engine bay...
The GT
Interior was fairly clean so I gave it a quick fresh-up vac/carpet spot clean and conditioned the leather/consoles/dash (not conditioned below)
Dirty tips cleaned and hand polished...
Halfway done!
Now the buffing...
The quarter panel is done, notice how much more shine and depth the finish has compared to the door!
Took a break to take a few shots of the GT :D
Left around 9pm so I couldn't get any after shots with efficient lighting

Re: Socal Detailer for Hire (brad.)
This past weekend's detail was a 1995 Midnight Pearl NSX...check it out!
Interior needs to be freshened up
Whoa, look at the marring in the paint, that's the result of a rotary buffer from a previous detail
WAIT, who's Mustang is that!?
OH, nevermind
ANYWAY, where were we.....
Various small scratches that can be helped
Now lets get started!
Comptech whipple supercharger!
The engine bay is pretty dirty and there is a few parts that show their age like this airbox coupler...
Here it is all done...
Interior done!
Let's do the wheels...
Now the paint surface...
Besides the marring that I showed you earlier in the picture series, there's swirling.
Taken care of...
DAMNSXY
Tires get dressed
Doors and quarter panels have been buffed out here, still working on the doors
Still getting there...
Tips were polished
Wheels detailed...
Sealant is applied and we're done!
