Major D16Y8 Clear out
Figured i'd clean this thread up.
1. 1997 D16y8 Short Block w/ 88,xxx miles ($130)
-Complete internals
-Does not come with a knock sensor. (Or come with broken knock)
-Mechanic says the crank pulley is too hard to turn, it should be a smooth turning process.
-Oil Pan is great, no leaks what so ever.
-I don't feel like taking the time out to figure it out, im sure it's something small.
This is me turning the motor over, or trying..with this block and the 230,000 mile head. I never turned over.
2. 1997 D16y8 Head Complete with internals, 88,000 miles ($50 or $60 w/ cam gear)
-Has a stuck/bent valve, exhaust valve #4
-Comes with
Vtec Solenoid
Oil Pressure Switch
-Will throw in Cam Gear for $10
-A lovely head i dont feel like fixing.
-No Valve Cover
Video of the stuck valve popping up. @ 1:09 in the video watch and listen to the click, it's the only thing wrong with it. That's me turning the crank. Watch the 2 valves to the far lower left of the screen Exhaust side, not the intake side. You'll see it pop up. Otherwise a great head it appears to be.
A better look!
3. 1998 D16y8 Head 235,000 miles w/ all internals ($75 or $85 w/ cam gear)
-Ran strong before removed
-Comes with
Vtec solenoid
Oil Pressure switch
-Has a Valve Cover
-Will throw in Cam Gear for $10
Bottom looks shabby because i ran the old block with no oil. There was a leak in my oil pan which i had been meaning to fix but never got around to doing it. Finances were screwed up, but im sure this head will work fine. It's just the build up of all that gets burned in that tiny space in between a block and a head. It's a 230,000mile motor still looks good for what it is.
This is me running a test on it to see if it holds fluids and i confirmed no leaks what so ever.
4. Honda OEM D16y8 Head gasket ($10)
-Great condition, Use but never ran on. Motor never got a chance to run ever.
-Still have receipt from last weeks purchase
-Still have original packaging for it.
5. Automatic Intake Manifold ($35)
-Comes with fuel rail w/ fuel injectors
6. D16y8 Crank pulley w/ bolt and key ($5)
This is a picture of the one that's on the 88K short block, this is just a reference picture. The other one looks exactly the same in the same condition. Same thing no big deal. They both do the same job, their twins.
Im getting rid of all these parts i've spent too much cash on all this mess and in the end i end up still without a running car.
Just hit me up pm or on here, i won't bullshit you on what i told you about these tiems.

The head is off a long block that i bought out of a 97 civic ex Automatic I ran the vin number on the car. It was salvaged because it had been wrecked in the rear. Read my description clearly everyone it does have a bent valve, I'm gonna assume the reason being is that someone either hit and broke through the valve cover or it fell...if u look at the valve cover u can see it's gotten damage in that area where the bent valve is.
Again i dont have a title because this HEAD didn't come from my car. The head came from a 2DR EX Automatic civic
The BLOCK did come from my car, Im financing the car i so i do not own a title yet but i have DMV records that show my BLOCK is out of a clean title car...When u come down to my house you can see that it's a clean title car.
Therefore the Head is a 97.

Dang it. He needs a 99 EX head for BAR. His car is a 99 so he can't go back in time when it comes to the motor. Thanks though, and glws

You got that right my man, Wish you the best of luck on your search. From what i've known San Diego craigslist has the most D16Y8's i've ever seen. Always check there it's worth the drive for sure.

Civic_Nation, Reznunt, Mikey, Henry. THANKS FOR THE BUMP My dudes. I appreciate them a ton. Yeah i think i ended up with a dud, it also may not be im too exhausted fooling around with it that i really don't mind letting go of these gems i just want a fully functional motor again. I've had a month of down time i cant afford to risk anymore, schools like an in effect as well as work, my gf will be working pretty soon so i cant hitch rides I feel like less of a man without my wheels.
If these things don't sell then maybe later own at the beginning of the year i'll just learn to rebuild the motor.
