I have a 92cx with a manual steering rack and most of the time when i pull out of a parallel park or something like that, i hear a pop or loud click. Im not sure if it would be the axles or maybe even the steering rack.

If my rack is shot, how difficult is it to install, lets say a itr rack?

any input appreciated.

It sounds like the cv joint to me. I had one go out on me in my old eagle summit and it made those noises when I turned the wheel hard either way.

Its yor CV Joints. It is cheaper to replace your whole axel. Mine are starting to pop now

ok cool. but just to make it a little more clear. its not that rattling in turns with a bad cv joint. its a different popping noise.

does it happen only when turning or when you are going straight also?

Might be the rack. Could be jumping teeth. I just had a similar problem. New used rack was $40 and took about an hour to install.

only while turning the wheel. vtecvoodoo i think i read your post about a week ago. i was hoping that it wouldnt be the rack. if i was to keep driving on it, would it get worse and worse?

my 95 civic pops when i turn the wheel.. both ways.. mine wasnt bad at first and its gotten progressively worst.. goin to go fix it in a few days.

so its the axels? how much do they run for to replace the front two?

Hey I got that same problem, but mine makes a crunch when I come to a stop also. I'm putting new axles in so we'll see if that takes care of it. fuggin ghetto noise when you park huh?

Thats weird cause mine makes a pop or tump noise every time I reverse and turn the wheel at the same time. Also when I brake hard, somewhere in the front it makes a tump noise to. Not sure what it is tough.
