Default 2014 Accord Sport immobilizer problem

Hey guys,

Finally decided to register an account. Been using the great information here to maintain my old 98 accord. Unfortunately, that car died a few months ago so I bought a brand new 2014 Honda Accord (less than 2 months old at this point). Unfortunately, I'm having intermittent problems starting the vehicle and I'm pretty sure it's because of the immobilizer system. The starter will not crank when I move the key to the ON position. All lights and electronics on the dash are lit to normal levels.

The problem is incredibly weird and I think it has something to do with my keys. I have three sets of keys. Two (one primary, one valet) were given to me at the dealership. The third key was sent by mail because they forgot to give it to me when I left with the car. I did use the third key once just fine. Some time later (like a week), I used the primary key I got from the dealership while I was there. The vehicle did not start. Keep in mind this key was working absolutely fine up until two days ago. I then tried my third key which also did not work. Finally I tried the valet key and the vehicle started. This problem is extremely hard to reproduce as I have no idea what conditions set it off.

I plan to bring it to the dealership tomorrow but I figured I'd ask here first to see if my hunch is wrong. Thoughts?

Brand new? Dude just take it to the dealership. The ecu might've lost battery power somehow and you gotta reprogram the key.

That's the plan

I was just generally curious about what would cause this in a brand new vehicle. I'll post if I find anything out from the dealer.

Probably just a bad key. It happens sometimes. Even Hondas arent always perfect.
