all the sudden my tach is off by 400 RPM, then replaced tach but still off!
hey guys please help me i need to know why my tach is off by 400 rpm. about a month ago out of the blue it just started to read about 400 rpm late i noticed this because my vtec engagement was off by 400. my oil pressure is good and i tested the vtec solenoid by putting directly power to it and it clicked.
so i fured that the tach was bad so i just replaced the tach with another oem tach and it is still off by 400 RPMS! this is really annoying. the ecu was stock when this happen so i tried a chipped ecu and again still the same thing. what else could be causeing this. i know people say that the stock tach is always off but for a year it was accurate so i want to know why all the sudden it read inaccurate???

Could be something in the cluster it's self(the green circuit board). possibly look threw here https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/rpm-acts-up-help-please-3149313/. Maybe FCM will chime in he knows a good deal about electronics.

Wheels will not make a diff.
I would start by checking connections in the distributor, to ICM and coil, the tach is "driven" by the ICM, either the connection, [blue lead] is poor or the ICM is bad. 94

well the distributor is about a year old i bought a brand new one from acura dealer. the coil is also new. i just swapped the ICM with a different one and ther is still the same off by 400/500.
and likes i said i already swap just the tach part of the cluster. should i just swap the whole cluster with another to see if that works? i hate to buy another one just to find the same problem afterward
