Default 1993 ex coupe non ABS calipers vs 1992 VX calipers

Hey guys I have a few questions that i just can't seem to find the answer for.

car 1992 civic VX w/d15b7 engine swap done by previous owner.

So I thought i did my research on brake upgrades along with front sway bar but I grabbed parts off a 1993 EX coupe but the non-ABS model which has bigger calipers then my stock VX but runs the same 9.5" rotors. So my question is...

Is it worth running the larger piston EX calipers?

Can I use my stock MC and BB?

Will it effect anything that I have the rear drums still?

Thanks for any input you guys might offer.

Your car is not making 600+HP. Throw a decent set of brake pads and replace the stock rotors and call it day.

kinda what i was thinking, but i couldn't find the answer and just was wondering. The car will be used mostly for hillclimbs, autocross and a few track days. I can't upgrade to anything larger then what was found on 92-95 civic's due to rules. And i screwed up and grabbed the front brakes from the wrong EX. haha

Yeah... those EX calipers are sketchy because Honda didn't make just one caliper. My ex-gf 's '95 Civic EX coupe had the same ordeal. I picked up replacement brake pads and they were wrong. If I'm not mistaken, it is the same as an '89 Accord LX-I or something.

All EX brakes take 10.2" rotors. The calipers are slightly different than the ABS version though. The caliper piston is the same size as the CX/VX/DX brakes (and really weirdly the ITR/CR-V calipers) They have dual slide pins with bolts, instead of having that hinged design the smaller calipers have.

They also wont clear 13" wheels if that's a concern for you.

I was under the impression that if I wanted to bolt EX calipers to my VX I would need EX knuckles but the EX calipers I have bolt right on to my VX knuckles.

You do. EX or Integra.

Then they aren't EX calipers, they're just the same CX/VX/DX calipers you have now.

This is what real non-ABS EX calipers look like:

If you're wondering why the on the right seems to have a smaller rotor it's because it does have a smaller rotor, someone used the wrong rotor for whatever reason.

Well I will have to take some pictures of the calipers next time i'm at the shop because they are not the same caliper as the ones on my VX. Different pad and the the piston is way larger. Nissin is stamped on the "ex" caliper.
