Odometer Rolled?
Hi, I'm new here. I just bought a 1990 Honda Accord LX, this is my first Honda and I like it quite a bit.
Let's start from the top, I bought this thing for $500 about a week ago. This car needs very little mechanical attention other than a muffler and a set of rear control arms. This thing is 23 years old of course a lot of little things either don't work, are missing or don't work properly. For this car the speedometer didn't work, it was hanging below 0km/h under neath the little tab it's supposed to sit on, well i thought nothing of this at first but one morning I noticed there was an abnormal amount of moisture behind the plastic on the gauge cluster . I should have wrote it earlier but this thing has only 260,000km (162,000 miles) @ 23yo!!!! Other little things like a Honda with that kind of mileage shouldn't have an engine from a wrecking yard and such a beat up body and interior. This is just my hunch but how do I approach finding out whether or not it has been tampered with? Thannks in advance.

Re: Odometer Rolled?
I would run a carfax for starters. There should be an odometer reading for every time the car transferred hands. Every state I've lived in has required a stated odometer reading when transferring a title.
All that being said, you can expect BS like that when buying a $500 car.
