UK EP3 P1298
hey guys,
I have a UKDM Civic EP3 witht the k20a2 engine
i am getting a little misfire everytime i change gear and a slight hesitiation when pulling away
i changed the spark plugs with NGK iridiums last week and its still doing it
i had the ecu scanned and it came up with a p1298 code
i traced it back to the eld but that seems to be working fine
could it be a lambda fault as the fault only happens when the car is warm or at normal operation temperatures, when its cold it wont do it
can anyone shed some light on what could be causing this fault
Thanks

High Voltage In ELD Circuit
Lean Operation At wide Open Throttle
The check engine light is on. Trouble code P1298. This code is for the Electric Load Detection (ELD) circuit. The ELD unit is built into the underhood fuse box and works like an electronic Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and monitors current flow so the Engine Control Module (ECM) can control the charging system.
1. Verify that the Black (BLK) wire is ground, the Black/Orange (BLK/ORG) wire has battery voltage and the Green/Red (GRN/RED) wire from the ECM should have 4.5 to 5 volts reference voltage, unplugged.
2. With the connector plugged into the fuse box and the vehicle running, as electrical loads are turned on, the voltage on the GRN/RED wire should drop. Normal voltage is 3 volts no load and 1.5 volts high load. The voltage always stayed at 4.5 volts. The ELD is not changing the voltage, so the ELD is faulty and will need to be replaced.

Re: UK EP3 P1298
thanks for that
just out of curiosity the ELD controls the charging circuit but i work with batteries and charging in my job and checked the charge rate and regulation and it fine, charges at 14.1 and goes to 14.2 when headlights on and under a load (heated screen lights heaters etc)
does that mean the ELD is working?
if it isnt could it be an 02 sensor ir coil?
