1994 Civic cranks but won't start
I have a 1994 eg coupe ex with a B20 swap.
I was going to sell it yesterday and some guy came to check out the car. while it was running he started pulling out the spark plug wires one at a time to check for rod knocks. After pulling them all out he went to pull out number 2 and then the car just died. The car cranks now but doesn't fully start. It sounds like it is about to start but doesn't. Any ideas and how I should check everything? Thanks
I know the topic has been covered before but nothing I found has really helped.

He is right you could fix it with some parts in the distributer, i would test the coil and the igniter.....but if you replace both it will start& next time try not to let someone start pulling stuff apart under ur hood even if they think they know what there talking about.. gl

multimeter... There was a way to test across the terminals and a certain amount of resistance. Unfortunatly I dont know the values. Do you have a repair manual?

Re: 1994 Civic cranks but won't start
Thank you. I have already seen that link before going to Autozone. I needed a new coil. Dropped it in. car started but then died right after so I am thinking I have the rotor 180degrees off. the thing is if I turn it 180 degrees it won't fit onto the cam shaft. what is going wrong?

Okay. Now I took off the distributor and tried to rotate it 180 degrees but it wouldn't go in so I left it the way it was and now the car still won't fire up. not even fire up and die like it did the first time. all the clips are in. I remembered the order of the spark plug wires.
The ones I wrote were

4 3
What else could be going on here? Need the car running by tomorrow morning. Thanks

Need to check the spark. Fuel pump does prime though. I will check for spark tomorrow when I have someone to crank the engine for me.

The rotor can't be put on wrong. The distributor will only go in one way for a reason, DO NOT force it in. Just because the fuel pump primes doesn't always mean it's sufficient fuel delivery to run the car. Make sure your firing order is right, then test for spark.

Yeah it is in right.
Recommendations on how to test for spark? the guy at Autozone said my ignition control module is fine but the igniter coil was weak so I bought a new one and installed it. Fired up once and stalled immediately now it still is just cranking.

I'm having similar problems in my stock 95 civic lx. I'll be watching this thread for updates, and you can watch mine if you want too. I'll be getting starter fluid tomorrow and seeing if its the fuel injectors. My thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/starts-idles-cuts-off-wont-start-now-2939478/

Re: 1994 Civic cranks but won't start
Okay so the car cranks only sometimes now. The other times it just does nothing then clicks. Any thoughts? Some guy that came to help with my car said my starter is starting to go out and not to worry about the distributor. Is this correct?
