Re: Fuel system cleaner, What is best?
Seafoam and Marvel Mystery Oil are both good to run through the tank. For the mystery oil it's 4oz for 10 gallons. With the seafoam I usually just pour in 1/2 a can then fill up. I've actually just tuned up my hx with everything minus the pcv valve but did use new ngk plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air filter and fuel filter. I just got 36.5 mpg the other week and thats letting it warm up 10 min. in the morning before work 5 days a week so that's roughly an hours worth of idling per week.
There has got to be something serious wrong with that horrible mileage. Either your not calculating something right or you are running extremely rich. Have you checked for leaks? The injector o-rings would be a good start for checking that out. My brother has an explorer that was dumping gas all over the engine from those o-rings that killed his mileage but at least it didn't burn itself up.

Yea, no leaks that I can tell. I haven't checked the injectors yet, but I will in the morning.
I replaced the cap, rotor, and fuel filter ealier. They weren't that bad at all, a LOT better than what I was expecting. But It deffinelty smoothed out the idle, and the car just seems to run better.
However, I now Have a rather high idel 2k, and than it drops to 1k after a minute or so. Confused as hell about that. Or I started it ealier and it was surging between 17/8-2000rpm, for about a mintute and than settleted down. And dropped to 1k. When I starts to warm up, it goes right back to normal.
That is another issue, that I dig into futher tomorow. (quite pissed off though). other than that, it runs GREAT.
When I checked the plugs the were all light grey/white. If it was runing that rich, I am sure I would see something on them.
I am starting to think, maybe I got a bad tank of gas? It is possible. Maybe I didn't pay carefull attension and put less fuel in then I think I did? Both possiblilitys.
Ive got a little over half a tank with 50 miles on it now. 6 or so gallons. After this tank goes I will fill it, and drive and do the math again, this time paying very carefull atension to the amount I put in. If I can get 22-25 around town I would VERY happy.

Re: Fuel system cleaner, What is best?
On the high way, sure. I have never seen MPG that high around town..
In the past I am sure my driving style had a lot to do with it. I have kind of a heavy foot
I took it for a drive last night to get some miles on it, and it runs a lot smoother.
It idles better, and seems to accel much better.
I was hearing something about learned Air/fuel and that unpluggling the batttery looses that. I am going to go start it and look at it in a little bit and see where it goes from there.
If I can't figure it out, I am just going to have my dads friend look at it.

Re: Fuel system cleaner, What is best?
Hey sorry for bumping up this old thread, but I'm looking to get my fuel injectors cleaned and the only thing I found where they had reviews of a couple of injector cleaning fluids was this website. A friend of mine told me that I should probably use the Chevron Techron or whatever the name of it was. I'm driving a 2006 Civic with a 1.8 liter petrol engine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Since it is relate-able I won't hammer you for dredging up this old thread. Formulas change so the old advise in this thread may no longer be relevant and so re-asking seems quite appropriate.
If you can get a hold of it, some of the absolute best fuel system cleaner in my opinion is Wynn's Power Charge.
You can find demonstrations on youtube where Wynn's demonstrated their system cleaner to another major brand with burned on carbon in a test tube. Lets just say the other brand removed next to none of the carbon while Wynn's managed to remove close to 95-98% of it.
I've heard of others I know that swear by Wynn's Power Charge.
I special order mine from a guy in Ontario and have it shipped here to BC so I can run it once a year.
Saw another video that showed Seafoam to be worthless as carbon remover over the Wynn's regular fuel injection cleaner.

Re: Fuel system cleaner, What is best?
i use Prestone fuel system cleaner. from the bottle it shows how it cleans valves and corrects fuel injector spray. kinda expensive from what it used to be $3 vs. $7. Lucas is also very popular but Prestone for me. same guys who make coolant.
never hear of Wynn's but it looks good. if all else fails just buy some of that and it will clean whats left LOL

Nice story but it adds not one bit to the thread. Sending injectors out to be cleaned is not an option for the vast majority of people out there.

98civdx try lucas. It is really worth it or check some on InjectorCleanerManual.COM . They have quite big range of fuel injector cleaners.

You might have gotten lucky and the member is still active or you might not have.
Really if you must drag up an old thread, at the bare minimum, keep your advise generic for all instead of a directing your advise to a possible inactive member.

I knew you were still active however, new folk don't usually know to be aware of posting dates and the implications of such.
