Default KMOD RSX 2011 285whp K24a1 Build-Pics Inside

We are nearly completed w/ our new build for the KMOD RSX. The trans rebuild is done(new Synchrotech carbon synchros), The head has been ported, Supertech valvesprings/reatiners installed, Supertech valves installed, the bottom end assembled w/ Supertech 12.5:1 pistons-Eagle rods, a k20a2 oil pump moddified & installed, the engine has been degreed, & the piston to valve clearances checked. We are just waiting on our custom intake manifold from GATO Performance, and we still have to build a custom header, & exhaust. After we get the results of these Crower Cams we will be testing the Kelford stage2 cams, then a set of Blueprint stage3's.

Here are some pics of our progress so far--

Engine is fully assembled, valves adjusted, & Fluidampr crank pulley installed. Tomorrow we will be bolting on the trans and installing it back in the car. Looks like we will not have the GATO Performance manifold in time for our track tuning session on Thurs. We'll just have to run it w/ the PRC manifold & K20a2 TB for now. The best pass w/ our old set-up(internally stock K24a4) was a 13.48@101 expecting 12.90s out of our RSX w/ this motor.

The internally stock KMOD stg.1 Engine(k24a4 w/ cams & bolt-ons) made 220+whp.

Yes we are shooting for 12.90s w/ full interior, A/C & Power Steering. Its a true street car. I drive it everyday to and from work.

Looks like we will be waiting a few more days before we bolt on the trans. We found an issue w/ the clutch disk, and had to order a new one.

Here is the engine as it sits now. (The stock valvecover is on it, so the pretty one does not get scratched during installation) My wife spent a-lot of time on that valvecover making it look good, & she would kill me if I damaged it. LOL

Track times and dyno #s coming soon. we will be testing the GATO Performance intake manifold(as soon as we get it-its been 4weeks), and a set of Kelford 179-b(stg.2) Cams

We are also prototyping our KMOD 4-1 DC5 Header.

New clutch came in today, & the trans is bolted to the engine.
Engine/trans install, Engine break in street, dyno , & track tuning coming next.

Anyone going to the IFO event at Rockingham Dragway(NC) on April 3rd? Hope to see yall there.

Behind my engine on the engine stand is a 600hp 408 LS3 for my wifes truck(02 Blazer Extreme)
My 1st V8, I cant wait for the Tq. 500lbs tq @ 2000rpm, should be fun.

Its a custom clutch that we're going to test. It was made for us by one of the big clutch companies.(three letters) Trying to find a way to make the 2nd gear last longer. Went all year w/o any issues on my other clutch. So we're getting close.

Engine/Trans installed. woo hoo. Happy Happy

Thanks for the info. W/ just these Crower stg 2 3/4 at 32deg VTC we had .080 p2v so w/ the much bigger Blueprint-3s I'm sure it"ll be less.

We wired in the RDX injectors last night, & got her up & running last night.
Startup vid coming soon. These cams are def much bigger than the 02 type-s Cams we were running. We had to add a bunch of fuel all over the place. Should be on the Dyno Wed. & at the track on Thurs.

still waiting on our GATO Manifold,& our KMOD header won't be ready b4 Wed. So I'm going to dyno w/ the PRC Manifold, K20 TB ,& a modified DC Sprorts header on Wed. What do you guys think we are going to make? Predictions please.

We had to order a new shift arm for the trans. It didnt feel right going into gear so we took it out, measured it, & it came in below spec. Spec min was 16.9mm ,& it measured in at 16.7mm. Plus the ends were worn down. So we ordered a new one.

Are you sure with piston domes that size your compression is 12.5:1? I cant remember but does the A1 head have a larger chamber volume?

May be a tad over 12.5 we opened up the chamber a bit ,& did a little work to the pistons ,but it should be close. Due to time constraints we never got a chance to do final cc-ing on the chambers.

They just look much higher to me, apparently 12.5:1 CPs in a K24

yours

Look like 12.5 with an 86mm stroke to me... 14.5 with 99
Either way nice build

Have you used the Synchrotech synchros on any other cars yet?
I have been browsing around their site lately.
Looks like they have some quality trans parts.
