Re: SHG is back! Easy's EP3 goes under the knife...
Once again some Castrol synthetic and banded S2K oil filter. I plan on running Hamps in the future since the Toyo Roki S2K filters are impossible to find now. Unless some dealer somewhere has some old stock, it seems all Honda filters are now made by Filtech aka Fram/Honeywell :thumbdown
The other oil filter (AO2) that Honda uses is made by Honeywell/Fram.
I don't believe there is any association between Honeywell and Filtech Inc.

Ah I thought I had read in an oil filter comparison a while back they were made by the same company but I must be mistaken. Thanks for clearing that up
Do you know off hand if the Filtech uses the same filter element and end cap construction of the Toyo Roki?

I love the underchassis shots, it shows how mint this car is for its age. The Spec 3 is looking great in there and it just sounds so damn good I can't get over it. Nice pick up on the tires, hopefully you put them to use on the track this year still.

Its just a hose clamp, so yeah you could use that one or better a smaller one for the Hamp or A02 Honda filters.

I am not quite sure if Filtech uses the same filter element or end cap design as Toyo Roki. They might since they are sister companies but don't quote me on that.
Here are some interesting reads:
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...1084045&page=1
Apparently, there is/was a HAMP oil filter (longer shape version) that is made in the USA by Filtech. It also seems this HAMP version is similar to the AO1 Honda oil filters.
And then you have the smaller HAMP oil filters made by Toyo Roki in Japan.
Interesting thread on the S2000 oil filter:

We use both the A01 and A02 at our dealer. I like the A02 better. They seem like a better construction.

The only Honda oil filters available made by Filtech Inc. are the AO1's and PCX-004 S2000 oil filter. You can still find the AO1's online (http://www.handa-accessories.com) but most Honda dealers don't have them since they are succeeded by the Honeywell/Fram made AO2's.

Re: SHG is back! Easy's EP3 goes under the knife...
Thanks Dan
This weekend was nice to actually have some time off to relax, clean up the house, and work on the cars
Ive been wanting to take care of the oxidized roof channel moldings since I got the car, but for whatever reason never got around to it till now.
You can see they looked pretty awful, but luckily are still in great shape under the surface. You can also see in this picture the discolored paint in the crevice of the channel that has been bugging me.
.
.
I pulled them off the reveal this nastiness
.
.
After using some zep to clean the dirt out I took rubbing compound to the dicolored paint to bring it back to a factory fresh bright silver
.
.
While I had the rubbing compound out I also decided to clean up under the windshield molding
.
.
Next I scrubbed the moldings with some scotch brite to remove all the oxidation and give the SEM landau black paint a surface to bite to. It really gives the car a cleaner look
.
.
On Sunday I started working on re-doing my headlight eyelids. I was tired of how the last set came out since the vinyl didnt match the SSM and they were starting to lift and bubble from being out in the sun.
I found some of the old vinyl I had used for my first set but this time I used a black base, since the parking light shines through the somewhat translucent silver at night.
Heres a comparison of stock vs. eyelid. I dont think I could ever go back to stock at this point
.
.
Black vinyl applied
.
.
Cutting out the silver layer...
.
.
Comparison between old and new eyelid. Ill get some better pictures of both completed but this gives you an idea of the different shades of silver (new on the right, old of the left)
.
.
And last but not least..... Whats this??

I've been doing details for clients hopefully to start up a business in my
spare time.. I've been rather busy lately with every weekend thus far this summer booked... helps with "Feel's-ing" my car with goodies!
I need to read up more on different compounds- Just did a polish/wax buff on a nice 3sirius-merk this weekend...product of autozone.. one needs to step it up- but the cars keep getting more expensive- I see that as growth! Let me know when your looking for sponsors Ill send you "G" old gatorade symbol vinyls for the dc- lol

Your car makes me not want to sell my SSM EP, but the trans is toast and I don't have time to put into it like I used to. Good thing is that my new job lets me do design work on Honda and Acuras all the time now; somehow I landed a spot at Honda R&D in body design. I guess I'll just have to enjoy your EP vicariously through this thread.
Awesome work, love the progress.

Fresh roof moldings Look how much dirt was hidden under there
Excellent job as always on the eye lids, should be good for a longtime now. So do you have a template around for when you need to make new ones or are they from scratch every time you did them?
I know what's in the box and its pure goodness =]

Yeah if you look at the pic of tracing the silver eyelid the white paper is my template. Served for 3 sets of eyelids so far
