My Mini-Me Swap *PICS*
Pics of my mini-me swap. Still underway. Will keep it updated. I did this because i had a blown head gasket and thought why the hell not just get the V-Tec. Tell me what you think!!!

im doin the mini-me for right now cause im a little low on cash. but once i get paid im takin it out and gettin tt rods and vitara pistons and then throwin in a turbo. plus the v-tec tranny.

( you will tend to redline the car alot for the first little while with the mini me swap ).
But if rebuilding the bottom end is in your plans then its all under control.

Sounds good. Im just saying because most of the swaps I saw that people did the mini me on high mileage blocks without any bottom end work, ended up spinning a bearing.
( you will tend to redline the car alot for the first little while with the mini me swap ).
But if rebuilding the bottom end is in your plans then its all under control.

its not bearing issues you really have to worry about. what more commonly is the problem, more so on the 88-91 engines, is you throw a fresh newer head and new hg on a bottom end that's high mileage and instead of spinning a bearing it's more likely that you'll blow through the rings and start consuming lots of oil.
i had a d16a6 that ran fine and i decided to mini-me it with a y8 head. it was really clean and nice i thought everything would work out peachy. unfortunately didn't work out that way. it ran fine for a few weeks, but then it started burning lots of oil. did a compression test and cyl 2 came back at 60psi. i said muff this i'm done with the d and went b-series lol.

yahh i know but my mom had it and she didnt really care. but i doo. i change mine every 3000 miles lol. i just wanna use a degreaser once i get my head on. do you know if it would mess up the paint on the valve cover if i do use a degreaser on my engine?
