Sounds good. Im just saying because most of the swaps I saw that people did the mini me on high mileage blocks without any bottom end work, ended up spinning a bearing.

( you will tend to redline the car alot for the first little while with the mini me swap ).

But if rebuilding the bottom end is in your plans then its all under control.

its not bearing issues you really have to worry about. what more commonly is the problem, more so on the 88-91 engines, is you throw a fresh newer head and new hg on a bottom end that's high mileage and instead of spinning a bearing it's more likely that you'll blow through the rings and start consuming lots of oil.

i had a d16a6 that ran fine and i decided to mini-me it with a y8 head. it was really clean and nice i thought everything would work out peachy. unfortunately didn't work out that way. it ran fine for a few weeks, but then it started burning lots of oil. did a compression test and cyl 2 came back at 60psi. i said muff this i'm done with the d and went b-series lol.

how many miles did you have on the engine when you did the swap? lets hope this wont happen to me so i can have some time to redo my bottom end.

I was thinking the same thing. Valvetrain is dirty as hell. That engine would have benefited from oil changes more often.

Yeah I agree, I would just pull the cover then you don't have to worry about it. Its only like 5 bolts anyhow.
