My Accord veers to the left when I accelerate :(
Hi guys, I would really appreciate your opinions on my problem. When the car is rolling in the neutral it's rolling straight. As soon as I give it gas it slowly veers to the left lane IF I let go of the steering wheel... Any thoughts? The car is a 2001 Honda Accord Coupe. Thanks!

Sounds like your trans is on the way out, is it a V6 by any chance??
I had a similar problem with my old '83 Prelude, turns out it was a kind of torque steer as the differential was binding. I just hope for your sake it is as simple as tyre pressures or wheel alignment as PilotOnDubs has said..... good luck!

Old age and high mileage really, sometimes if it upchaged whilst heavily accelerating it would try tear the steering wheel out of your hands.

Yeah, mine pulled to the right under low speed acceleration where it was noticeable. As soon as I released gas pedal, it would correct itself. Took me a day to figure it out after lifting the car on a hoist to check under car. I grabbed the wheels and it had play on the right side, noticed the nut came loose, the safety pin had broken off. Lucky I caught it early.

In that situation you have to do only one thing go and visit the service center as soon as possible,

Well, it's definitely not THAT bad in my case. I just feel a very slight pull on the steering wheel - it's just annoying, that's all...

Thank you David, but before going to a service center I would like to collect sufficient background data on the problem and make an intelligent guess, so that I can tell the mechanic where he has to start, because mechanics around here are in the habit of doing a lot of unnecessary work and ripping their customers off

Props on trying to prevent a mechanic from ripping you off!!!
When the right radius rod broke on my Integra it kinda was like that but mine violently tried to veer right when i accelerated. I highly doubt that yours is broken but the bolt on the end (towards the front) could be loosened up a bit. you might want to check that out.

Re: My Accord veers to the left when I accelerate :(
Okay guys, here's an update on my troubles: checked tire pressure last night - it turned out pressure in the left tire was even higher than in the right one, which made no sense because the car pulled to the left. I was getting very frustrated and was beginning to think that I had bought a car with a messed up geometry. But today I swapped the front tires and the car started to pull in the opposite direction - to the right!! So I think it would be logical to assume I have a defective tire, right?
