Default 99 ek hatch h22 turbo build--shaved--tucked--built--

Hey guys and girls,
I usually just lurk the pages and see what everyone is up to. my last build I was kind of bummed because I didn't document the build and wish I would have. my last build was a 01 jdm front integra with a built h22-turbo that served a dual purpose life as both a weekend street warrior and a track ****. I had lots of fun building it, as it was my first car I ever built. I did everything myself on that car, I learned how to build my first engine. that was the first time I ever brake line tucked, somewhat shaved and painted a car. it was also only the second car I turboed. and tuned. I literally tried to do everything myself and I was quite happy with the car I have drove it for 5 years now. and been through lots and lots of different turbo setups, motor setups and transmission setups. it literally started as a low 400hp pump gas car with a 57mm turbo. all the way to the current setup that consists of a built stock stroke 89mm bore with aluminum rods, skunk2 springs, retainers and cams. top mount billet wheel 67mm turbo that makes 734hp at 28psi on c16. and it all goes through a ppg straight cut dog box and drive shaft shop 5.9 axles with all the trial and error it left a lot to be desired, I made a lot of rushed decisions and I was limited on funds. so this left a car that was purposeful and fast but lacked a lot in the detail department. to this day there are a lot of loose ends that are not finished. I have kind of lost hope with this car.

so with that being said I am starting this project from scratch to truly create something that I am proud of and can enjoy to drive. there will be a lot of parts on this car and features that some people wont agree with or think are just stupid, but hey I cant please everyone.

some of the quirky things about this car will be, full interior I refuse to lose the creature comforts of a car. It will also have a/c, yes a/c in a 9 second street car.and a full cage.

here is a list of some of the parts

motor:
darton sleeved closed deck h22
stock polished crank
grp aluminum rods
all oem bearings mains .0018 oil clearance and rods .0019 oil clearance
skunk2 pro series valve train and cams
skunk2 tuner cam gears
stock ported head and stock valves
stock intake manifold and stock throttle body
kaizenspeed balance shaft delete
oil squirter delete

drivetrain:
stock h22 transmission case with welded supports
ppg straight cut dog engagement 1-4 gearset and 5th gear cuff--4.4fd
mfactory helical lsd
driveshaft shop level 5.9 axles
spec twin disk clutch

suspension:
blox drag suspension
skunk2 camber kits front and rear
rear toe kit
all new bushings

chassis:
tucked brake lines
tucked harness

interior:
the interior will remain close to stock
8 point cage
prosport oil pressure, boost gauge and wideband.

the goal with the car is to be a 9 second street car that looks good doing it and I can drive everyday if I wanted to.

I am not good at posting pictures and will try to upload them, if someone could help me with a easy way please let me know. I will post some pictures of the integra first then a few of where I am at with the hatch

and here are some pics of the hatch
so far I have stripped the car down, welded up all the holes in the bay accept for the holes for the radiator and condenser stays and the a/c bracket holder and the dryer bolt.

here is two outside pictures, the body isn't in bad shape. minimal body damage. but cheap paint.

a few pics of the engine under construction. I really wish I could learn how to put filler on a little lighter. I put it on so heavy and it requires a lot of sanding!!lol

one thing that I never liked was the firewall back where the battery would normally go I hate that the factory had to put those vertical lines in there. so I shaved them.

another small update, might not seem like much progress but I spent a few hours working on the right front section. I am trying to make it look as perfect as possible and look like all one piece. this is the slow tedious part that I hate. once the engine bay is done, it will move a lot quicker.

tomorrow I am going to drop the subframe so I can disassemble the suspension. so I can have the lower control arms, strut forks, steering knuckle, subframe and disassemble the rack so I can have separate pieces powder coated different colors.

so I would like to get everyone's opinion. the color of the car is most likely going to be some type of variant of grey. probably more along the lines of charcoal maybe a little more silver in it, or anthracite. the engine bay will resemble the integra, probably a lot of black. would you guys throw more color in it? like I was thinking maybe polished motor mounts and polished a/c lines and polished brake lines or should I black out everything?
also what color for the wheel wells and under side of the car, it will be done in por15 grey or black? and semi gloss?

if it was me, all that has been done... if you have access to a welder and sheet metal i would go a step further than anyone..

cutout the entire strut towers, and weld your own from the firewall the rad support, boxed and die stamped...

that's what i would do anyways, as far as colors.. brushed aluminum/steel and black is clean. Let the engineering be the brightest color!

small update nothing big, but I dropped the subframe and started stripping the wheel wells. this is not fun its a pain and a mess. I do have to say though for anyone that's gonna do it. aircraft paint stripper is the best at making it easier. I will have some more pics tonight of the one wheel well pretty much done.

it would be cool if more people commented
I know the build hasn't gotten good yet but I promise you it will.
also what are your guys and girls opinion on the color to do the under side and the wheel wells. it will be por 15 but should I do grey or black? most all of the suspension will be black, should I do grey to offset it?

I like the way that black and grey look together but I think suspension pc'd bright would be awesome. I don't really know your personality but bubble gum pink trim looks awesome on grey. I also like teal but I feel like that is becoming pretty common. You could do a lot with different "shades" or "textures" of black or grey. Maybe try gloss against flat or carbon(where you can)? Even pearl white would really set it off.

My question to you is -how the hell did you find an hseries PPG dogbox? I scoured the west coast and even called Australia and was told that they were no longer in production. I ended up having to go H2B (PPG).
