Re: F23 swap questions
im thinkin if you want to keep it OBD-I, you have to change a few sensors such as the dizzy. if you want to keep it OBD-II, youre going to have to require the car, ripping **** out here and there, itll make you go insane if youre not sure what your doing. good luck on the swap, i hear it is a pain in the *** to do.

Re: F23 swap questions
sounds like your just trying to get it running correct? thats why the f23?
anyways you need:
1. ECU = obdII ecu -How about an OBD2 PAA (VTEC) or PAB (Non VTEC) 98-02 F23 ECU. Or you could get an OBD2b to OBD1 conversion harness and use a chipped & tuned OBD1 ECU. if you just wanna get it running, use the stock ecu for that engine, weather it be VTEC or not!
2. yes, you can use transmission
3. yes, you can use f22 wire harness with modifications (gotta add vtec)
Here is a guy on Cb7tuner.com that did the swap,

hopefully that helps

Re: F23 swap questions
F23 ECU has an immobilizer in it. You'll either have to get the matching chipped key and the key reader that goes by the ignition cyl, or get the immobilizer removed from the ECU.
Other option is to use a different ECU. You'll run into an issue with the IAC valve, which is a 3 wire part on the f23 but a 2 wire part on older hondas. Older ECUs can't handle it.

Re: F23 swap questions
The idle air control (IAC) problem can be handled quite easily with the blacktrax adapter... then you can put a 2 wire older style IAC on a 3 wire IAC newer intake manifold.
The real problem it seems like people run into going OBDI comes from the fact that the OBDII f23 (and OBDII f22b1/b2's) uses a seperate crank position sensor thats located on the oil pump housing around where the crank snout comes through it... while the rest of the older OBDI f22's use just a sensor in the distributor which reads cam position to reference the engine internals/ crank position.
As said about the transmission will work and bolt right up. Thats simple.
