01 Accord transmission fluid leak now check enging light is on
Hi I have an 01 Accord coupe that is leaking transmission fluid at where the cv joint and the transmission connects (on both sides couple drops after it's parked) . Anyone know what is worong and is this fixable by myself?
Thanks!
So, it's problem with the differential? I checked with my Honda dealer and the service dept told the warranty is only 3 yr/ 36000 mi.
It was having problem shifting into different gears, but after I add atf fluid to it the shift is smooth again, but it's still dripping couple drop fluid after I parked.
Now the check engine light is on.
Can anyone help? Thanks!

go to the dealership scream, rant, and rave to get it fixed under the extended warranty.
The differential bearings are toasted. They look like this or worse;

if your car is under 100K it will be covered under extended 7 year 100K transmission warranty.
If car has salvage title in past, your warranty will be void and you can look forward to $3-5K to fix it. You can also go JY route and put in a used one but with the failure rate, I would not recommend it even if it was from an 02 model year.......

before you go scream at the dealership about your differential. (which, IMHO, it's never a good idea to scream at people you want something from) It's more likely your transmission oil seals.
you can DIY, but it's not a simple job.

on the 98-02 accords it is 99.99999999999% chance that your differential bearings are toast. Toasted bearings = internal trans failure imminent since main filter gets clogged resulting in 2nd gear clutch packs getting burnt.......
This is a known issue with these transmissions......

Woah, those bearings are toasted. Just wondering, since 99.99% of the differential bearings are toasted on the 98-02 series, how about the 03 gens? Are there any problems i should know?

Re: 01 Accord transmission fluid leak (Made In Japan.)
03+ cars use the SAME 5AT that the Acrua CL and TL do and unfortunately, they suffer from the same problems. They are the fixed units and do not suffer nearly the same failure rate as the 98-02 cars but they still are not as reliable as any of the 97 or earlier cars. There are quite a few 03+ accord owners reporting trans issues with the V6. the I4 appears to be fine.......

Regarding the trans being clogged, if this is detected early enough. Is it possible a transmission flush will take care of the problem?
