225/45/15 just looks mean compared to that 195.

i'd be interested as a track-only set; 15x8 yup.

Marcus (MrHeelToe) and I tried few pairs of these wheels on my 99 Civic. The +40s are barely too close in the back and touch the UCA at the trailing arm. I think a 3mm spacer would be enough for them to clear, maybe a 5 is need though? Rolling the rear fenders would be needed obviously. The fronts seem to fit nicely even with a 225/45-15 Hankook tire
but would most likely rub at full turn and/or going in/out of driveways.

15x8 +40 225/45-15:

Just for ***** and giggles we put on a +20 with a 245/40 tire!

please excuse the dirty, shineless paint of my EJ

I second, whats up with the pic saying 245s??? umm that my friend under stock fenders is ****.

Man I'm interested here. I've been looking for 15x7.5s and 15x8s for a long time now.

I'm going to be preping and painting my car over the winter so doing some cosmetic work to fit some fattys is going to be a given.

mainly because of the offsets/spacers that would be needed for suspension arm clearence in the rear is the reason for a 'track setup,' but the pics above on the +40 15x8 with 225/45/15 tires wouldn't look bad at all even with the 3mm needed in the rear.

Right now for DD i'm planning on running Kosei K1 +45 in a 15x7 with 205/50/15 kumho spt; just waiting for it to all ship...damn back-ordered tires from tirerack's nevada warehouse..

That's weird, Tire Rack doesn't list either a 245 40 15 or a 245 45 15. And for that matter Avon doesn't even list that tire on their site. Must be a Euro or Japanese only tire?

I have noticed that the Tire Rack can confuse themselves pretty easily....I could tell a story...

What Avon tire model are those?

Edit....NM...they are the CR500. I finally went to your link.

Yes the CR500. That size is supposedly made just for the Caterham in England. It's a very soft tyre

Why the F don't we have more tires to choose from for Hondas. The 245 40 15 is the perfect size. Unfortunately the CR500 cost $225.00 each in that size but if they made more for the masses the price could come way down. Avon also makes a 295 50 15 as well.
I see a market over here for those tires.

I was told the CR500 is like the RA1 or the A032R. Is this true?

The CR500 is a full race tire. Softer than an RA-1, more like a Hoosier or Kumho V710. OE tire for the 1300lb Caterham CSR. These come directly from Avon Motorsports UK. I'll do some road course and autocross performance testing in December and January with them. Until then, just speculation.

Treadwear rating of 20. That's not a typo. Tire weight is 18.6 lbs, only one steel belt amongst the nylon and aramid. Lighter than most 195/50's and it's also only 21.3" tall, where a 195/50 is 22.8", 9.4" tread width (239mm).

Weight of the 6UL is 12.8lbs.

Thanks to Marcus and nonsense for dropping by with the not too dusty EK

Not sure what you're asking. the tire has a very lightweight contsruction. I wasn't able to get tire spring rate data from Avon but I can tell you the sidewalls are not as rigid as say, a Hoosier. More pliable like an RA-1.

That's what I was wondering, thanks.
Avon will be testing these tires on a Miata in a few weeks. As soon as I hear back I'll post the information here.

I guess that tells me you're in very good communication with Avon then. That's somewhat embarressing... And I thought I was helping.

I haven't seen the manufacturer specs on this tire and they don't appear to be listed on Avon's site, but from looking at the photos, it doesn't look like a 21.3" tire, and my math says 22.7".

Math does not lie, but neither do tape measures.
