Re: i sold my eg but.... (_BEN_)
The buyer I believe? I bought my civic a few months ago and I had to smog it myself 2 weeks ago. Plus I had to get it registered... Cost me all together 240$... Damn CA

whoa man,the rule in califonia is you say you payed $500 for the car this registration is only $40-50 "unless you but it from a dealer/car lot.the seller MUST smog the car before it is sold.it is good for 90 days once the seller has smoged the car for a transaction.if you buy a car and the guy ses "as is with no warrenty and for off rhode use,i.e its not going to pass smog with its non carbed motor" then he is not responsible.it is then up to you to find your own corrupt smog tech and get it passed.hope that cleard every thing up, pat

Yeah no doubt. Governor Locke is trying to adopt CA emmision laws in WA before he's out of office. Im screwed if that happens.

Yeah, it is inevitable for the whole country. HOWEVER there are some counties in CA in the mountains where smog laws are not in effect. Kinda interesting...

Re: (The Pastor)
yes the law states the Seller has to smog it Unless the parties involved agree that the buyer is responsible for the Smog. like buying a car that wont pass smog so the buyer can get it fixed. So if you bought the car with the seller stating You have to get it to pass smog, unless its in writing, you can go after him if it doesnt pass

yes there are places that are smog exempt. but when you sell / buy the car you still have to provide one you just dont need to do the semi annual smog for registration

i disagree, i don't see it as inevitable for the whole country at all...i can see it as inevitable that car manufaturer's requirements become increasingly stricter, but i don't see california's communist car laws spreading outside it's neighboring states (if that even happens)...of course, if you don't like california car laws then make it known and vote republican

There was an article not too long ago which stated that within 8 years, nearly every state will have already adopted CARB regulations. I think it was in Car & Driver, but it could have been in Road & Track or Motortrend, I don't remember which.
