mismatched electricals & knocking sound

mismatched electricals & knocking sound
Would having an F22B1 with LX ECU, LX engine harness, and LX distro cause my engine to run with a knocking similar to piston slap from 1.7k RPM and up? I just purchased this car (1994 Accord LX coupe 5spd MT) and upon replacing the rediculously loud can-muffler with a stock muffler, there is this audiable knock from the motor as described above. I see phrases like "ECU fuel mapping" and "ignition timing" and was wondering if I replace those LX components with EX components, might I alleviate this problem?

Well, looks like youre running a vtec engine with nonvtec controls. If the vtec is actuated all the time, those extra intake valves could be making a weird noise? Just a thought, as I have never heard of anybody doing this. However, i am thinking the solenoid would have to be actuated to allow the oil to open them extra valves...so..who knows? Also, youre running a f22b2 distributor? That might be a problem.

The setup was none of my doing, im just hoping setting up the motor with correct ECU, dizzy and harness may fix this problem instead of even more expensive fixes, like an engine replacement. Thank you for your input
