2002-2006 HONDA CRV Performance Parts List
This Thread was started for people who want to upgrade their performance on the 2nd Gen CRV. There is limited a mount of mods for this generation unlike the first Gen CRV there is long list of mods that you can do. So I tried to make it easier for everyone to find parts for the 2nd Gen CRV. If anyone has more stuff they want to add to this list please post on this thread and I will edit this main one.

Engine Performance
Most K series mods can be used from other cars like the RSX/CIVIC SI K20 or TSX/Accord K24. The K24A1 motor which is found in 2nd gen CRV is a good base to add many different aftermarket modifications.

FAQ:
How to upgrade 2002-2004 to 2005-06 model.
Front Brakes:
All you need to do is purchase 05-06 Caliper Braket and Rotor. Its 1"inch larger in diameter than the 02-04 model.
Rear Brakes:
You need to change out the whole knuckle, rotor and caliper. "My opion is not to do the rear brakes its not worth the upgrade"
Can Civic Si 06-2011 rims fit my CRV?

Procedure
Note: This is the procedure that I followed. This worked for me, however if there are mistakes or omissions I cannot be held responsible. There are several variations that will also work. Without proper experience it is possible to destroy the transmission if it is not reassembled correctly. It is important to inspect all parts and if there are any worn parts they should be replaced. Please use caution and common sense.
1. Following procedure in the Element Manual, remove the transmission. Note it is not necessary to remove the outboard joints of the driveshafts from the wheel hub. They can remain in place. Just remove the inboard joints from the transmission and intermediate shaft. Do remove the intermediate shaft.
2. Follow procedure in the Element Manual for disassembly of the transmission. Stop after the shifter and gearsets have been removed. Discard the reverse cam lock.
3. Drive out the pin connecting the reverse shift fork and the 5th gear shift fork. Discard the pin. Remove and discard the reverse shift fork. Replace with the new 6 speed reverse shift fork. **In at least one CRV and possibly some later model Elements the reverse shift fork may be welded to the 5th gear shift fork (rather than attached by a connecting pin). In this case you must order the TSX 5-6 gearshift fork 24201-RAS-000. Use this shift fork as a replacement for the stock 5th gear shift fork.**
4. Follow the procedure in the Element Manual for disassembly of the mainshaft. Remove the taper cone ring and associated distance collar, and discard. Remove 5th gear synchronizer, discard and stop. Follow the procedure in the Acura TSX manual for reassembly of the mainshaft. Press the new 5-6 synchronizer hub onto the mainshaft. Place the new collar and needle bearing on the mainshaft. Place the new mainshaft 6th gear over the needle bearing. Replace the ball bearing as directed.
5. Follow the procedure in the Element Manual for disassembly of the countershaft. The appropriate way to do this is to use a bearing puller and hydraulic press, but some people cheat. Other people find a local tranny shop may help with this step. Remove the special bolt (note - reverse threads). Remove the bearing, the shim, and the distance collar, then stop. Discard the special bolt and distance collar. Follow the procedure in the Acura TSX manual for reassembly of the mainshaft. Press the countershaft 6th gear onto the countershaft. Complete reassembly of the countershaft as directed.
6. Replace the shift arm interlock with the new interlock. Alternatively, the slot in the old shift arm interlock can be elongated by about 6mm (the width of the reverse select lever).
7. Follow procedure in the Element Manual for reassembly of the transmission. Do not re-install the reverse lock cam. Note: Be sure to install the speed sensor spacer (It is not a washer) in the correct order - Bolt, sensor, spacer, transmission.
8. Following procedure in the Element Manual, install the transmission.
9. Drive.

Things you should watch out for when purchasing 2nd GEN CRV
If the oil is changed on a regular basis and the engine has never been run low on oil, it generally won't have probems. If the oil has been changed infrequently or the car has been run low on oil several times, chances are that the engine will have problems with the timing chain and/or the VTC system.
Some '02-04 CR-Vs are affected by a faulty A/C compressor, which explodes internally and then contaminates the rest of the system with particulate compressor innards, requiring the entire A/C system (or at minimum, several parts of it) to be replaced at great expense (anywhere from $800-2000 depending on labor costs and parts required).
Door lock actuators are a common failure. The lock cylinders in the doors tend to seize up also - I recommend squirting some lock cylinder lube in them on a regular basis to keep this from happening. The original primary oxygen sensor tends to go bad at some point and trip a Check Engine light; unfortunately it's pretty expensive.
Other than that, they hold up well. Of course you'll have the normal consumable parts go bad (sway bar links, bushings, ball joints, axles, brakes, tires, struts, etc.). These cars also tend to consume tires faster than most vehicles depending on driving conditions, so it's not a bad idea to buy tires with a treadwear warranty and rotate them as needed to validate that warranty.
Change the Dual Pump fluid in the rear differential every 30,000 miles to provent the diff from making growling noises during hard turns. Change the trans fluid every 30,000 also.
They're pretty good vehicles if they're taken care of (as with most Honda cars). If the car has a solid recorded service history and is in good shape, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it regardless of the mileage.

Maintenance Intervals
These are only recommendations of maintance intervals for your CRV.
Engine Oil 5w-20
Suggest to change you Engine oil every 3,000 miles even if you use Fully Syntheic oils. "Engine Oil is cheap compared to replaceing a motor"
Transmission
Auto: 4qts when backed up on ramps. "ONLY BY HONDA ATF FLIUD"

How often should I change the rear differential oil?
I suggest changing this every 10,000 miles if you drive your CRV aggressively.
You you drive your CRV normal you should change this every 30,000 or if your rear diferential starts to squeal or make a moaning sound.
You can change your oil yourself which is very simple takes only 10min
1. You will need 2 quarts of Dual Pump Honda fluid Only!!!!
2. Two washer plug rings which you can get at honda also.
3. Suggest to back your car up onto ramps on flat ground.
4. You will need oil pumper to pump back in the oil fuild after draining.
5. Spray off extral oil drips with Brake Cleaner.

The bigger and heavier second generation CR-V (Chassis Code RD4-RD7) was a full redesign, based on the seventh generation Civic, and powered by the K24A1 engine. North American versions of the new engine produced 160 hp (120 kW) and162 lb·ft (220 N·m) of torque. Per new SAE regulations, the same engine is now rated at 156 hp (116 kW) and 160 lb·ft (220 N·m). Despite the power increase, the new CR-V retained the fuel economy of the previous model, thanks in part to the engine's i-VTEC system. The newly developed chassis had increased torsional and bending rigidity, while the new suspension possessed front toe control link MacPherson struts and a rear reactive-link double wishbone; the compact rear suspension increased cargo space to 72 cu ft (2,000 l). The second generation CR-V was Car and Driver magazine's Best Small SUV for 2002 and 2003. Second generation CR-Vs in countries outside of North America were again offered in both 'low specification' and 'high specification' variants, with the latter featuring body-colored bumpers and fittings. It also now did not require the glass hatch to be opened before the swinging door. Changes between model years 2002, 2003, and 2004 were minor. The success of the CR-V prompted Honda to introduce an entry-level SUV, the Element.
It is reported that in late 2003, Honda took legal action against Shuanghuan of China accusing its Laibao SRV of copying the CR-V's exterior design.[4]
Facelift
Facelift Honda CR-V (Philippines).
In 2005, the CR-V received a mid-cycle refresh. The 2005 CR-V was now equipped with 16 inch wheels, the earlier models had 15 inch wheels. Visual changes included new taillights and headlights with clear indicators. The new headlights now have two separate H1 bulbs for low beams and high beams, the previous setup used H4 single bulb for both low and high beams. The taillights now used clear lenses instead of amber for the turning indicators. The grille was also changed; it had two horizontal bars instead of one. The front bumper design was slightly changed, it now has round fog lights compared to the previous rectangle fog lights and in addition to the lower grill there are two horizontal bars instead of one. The rear bumper reflectors were longer and narrower.
Facelift Honda CR-V (US)
On the inside of the car, the EX trim received upgrades which included steering wheel-mounted audio controls and an outside temperature monitor. The stereo system was also XM Satellite Radio ready (USA but not Canada). All CR-V models also had revised rear seat headrests, which had been redesigned to reduce rear view blockage.
Mechanically, the 2005 model was also changed. A major change included a drive-by-wire throttle for all CR-Vs. The all-wheel drive system was improved; it had been tuned to activate faster in low traction situations. US market models were equipped with a five-speed automatic, as opposed to the previous four-speed automatic.
In the United States and Canada, all 2005 and later CR-Vs have ABS, Electronic brake force distribution, front seat-mounted side airbags, and side-curtain airbags with rollover sensors for all occupants. In Australia, the MY05 facelift went on sale in late 2004. Base models made do with only dual airbags and ABS as standard equipment, while the Sport came equipped with side airbags for the first time. Curtain airbags were unavailable on any model, until the next generation.
Following the tradition of adding a trim level above the EX during the refresh like the first generation CR-V, Honda added the SE trim level for the 2005 CR-V. The CR-V SE had painted bumpers, body side molding, and spare tire cover. For a more luxurious experience, Honda added a leather interior, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated side mirrors and front seats. The SE also included a hard body-colored cover for the spare tire on the back.

has anyone lifted there 2002- 2007 crv? im finding only rear springs available, but did notice that you can buy the element lift kit and the part numbers cross although im worried about the alignment issues....anyone out there that did a lift on thiese years?

The only thing you need to add to that kit is stronger endlinks for your sway bars. and buy front and rear camber kit. But other people have purchase that kit before and worked out fine.
Just keep in mind that that lifting your CRV will wear out other parts faster like bushings and bearings. Also if you go with a taller wider wheel consider upgrading your brakes.

Not sure what I am going to do next. I am thinking of getting another CRV 5speed manual. I am not sure how much longer my auto tranny going to last. I beat the crap out of it all the time. But I do change my tranny fluid every 10k with the rear diff also.

What kind of MPG do you get with that wheel/tire combination? I'd love to set my V up like that, but I'm getting anywhere from 25-29mpg/tank stock, and don't want to loose the mpg (even though I should be driving my Acura more, which has gotten as high as 38mpg/tank)
SIMMI: I could go without the chameleon paint and those 22's? but sure would love to have those LCA's and brake kit!

Ever since picking up this slush-box, I've been wanting a manual to go along with it (with the TSX 6th gear mod.) I know what you mean about the auto tranny, mine has developed a "whir" upon acceleration/cruise at low speeds (0-30mph) so we'll see how long it lasts. I have started doing the ATF 3qt drain every 10k as well.

If most of your driving is on the high way and streets I would stay with stock recommend size.
You can drain 4qt of tranny oil if you put rams on the back of your car. I usually back up onto ramps on flat ground. Also your rear diff will drain better as well and easier to access.

Love it better handle more power seats are more comfortable more room in the back,it's a better upgrade i know the 02^ have tranny problems but the 5sped feels right now when am doing 60mph my rpm seat under 3k with the 1gen doing 60mph my rmp seat right pass 3k . Also when you step on the gas u feel it's moving befored i had to wait for the respond of the rmp to come up . For my opinion it's a better upgrade hands down , just like any other regular car jist got to keep up with the maintenance oil , tranny fluid , diff fluid , , also since it come with 4disc break that is a +

Anyone used the HR springs? Seems easier than bolting on a civic kit but the adjust-ability of coilovers would be nice. Not a thousand dollars nice though.

I have this header, just came in few days ago. For the money it looks pretty good, primaries look kind of on the small side, but looks like nice enough piece with reasonable construction... Again considering the price there is nothing to complain about.
Once I am ready to put it on it will be more telling, most likely will wait until spring though. It is WAY too cold and I just finished putting TSX gears with 6th spd. Needless to say freezing and chilling under the car is not fun part of this hobby.
Since I have some TSX parts kicking around I was contemplating swapping rockers/cams into CRV head and of course next on my mind is engine management.
I didn't have much time to research, but so far not much is turning up.
Do any of you guys have or know anyone that runs Kpro on 2002+ MT CRV? Any links to this info? Any of you know what turbo and SC guys use in theirs for engine management?
I kind of briefly looked at Hondata web site and oddly they don't list 2002 MT CRV as Kpro application, they do list it as ECU 'donor' vehicle to use on other cars. I do notice Element is listed with some sort of adapter harness and they recommend CRV ECU for that application.
This leads me to think that while 02-04 CRV MT ECU will accept Kpro, it actually might not work in CRV, as in run dash and other functions (except engine, which it should run).
Anyway, any info would be appreciated.

Rear tail lights you will need rewire, purchase the wire sockets, and purchase the 05-06 tail lights.

this should work as long as your car is not drive by wire. You will need the intake manifold and throttle body from the RSX/integra. Also you might want to look at the TSX/Euro R accord intake manifold or throttle body.
