Default Best header for the money????

OK guys I am selling my turbo setup and dropping in a b16b with 25k on it that I purchased from HT member boricuatuning from S. Florida. The motor is not coming with the stock ctr header so I need to search for something to replace it. I was looking for a itr or replica, but if I recall correctly the clearance wont be good on the b16's because its a shorter block so the header will hang lower. My car is really low and I need something that will have the best clearance as possible. I m not interested in crazy gains because this isnt going to be an "all motor build", but I would like something decent and not too expensive. Any suggestions? I was also considering the WS2 exhaust.

The spoolin performance Toda replica header would be your best bet. VTECKidd has another RMF replica that may work well. The WS2 is quiet but really restrictive, you may want to consider a T1R, or even a custom pieced system for better performance.

I'd run a cat, or at least the largest resonator I could find if not, to keep sound down. K-teller and others sell many different styles of mufflers so it depends on what you can handle for sound vs performance/looks.

actually the B16B uses exactly the same block as the ITR/GSR

i had an ITR header.... didnt like it AT ALL

i hav a Kamikaze 4-1 header on my B16A and i ABSOLUTELY LUV IT!!!!

if u plan on keepin tha B16B and jus adding bolt ons (cams, ecu, intake, manifold, etc.) then the short primary 4 to 1 Kamikaze is GREAT for that engine!!!

Isnt the cat where the restriction comes from in the exhaust setup? This is more difficult than I was hoping LOL. I want something that looks good, sounds good, and performs well (not necessarily the best)

EG6, thats basically what the plan is. Im not going all out on this thing.

I have used Vibrant spun metal cats in a couple builds now. They flow more than your exhaust ports expell, so I do not believe there is any power reduction, maybe on the magnitude of 1-3hp.

At the minimum, you will want an additional resonator on the exhaust stream to compliment the muffler.

As for the header, the Spoolin 4-2-1 (TODA knock-off) is probably the best solution for any 1.6L. Very affordable as well.

hmm 300 shipped, they kinda look like a nicer version of the stock b16 headers. You dont recommend anything like the jdm itr header? I though that was like the cheap good header?

if u git THAT header for your B16B u wil b very pleased. i promise

So your recomendations are subjective at best since there's no actual data to back up what you believe you felt.

The Kamakazi header was designed for a supercharged motor and since you have no dyno proof, I hardly believe it gives amazing torque since it's design doesn't lend to producing torque. The ITR header works on 1.6L's and does an ok job for what it is, I use to run a DC JDM 4-1 header originally and had good results. Forget the Kamakazi and any other subjective info, listen to what's being said and then research your options before deciding what's right for you.

Then don't plan on making good power.

i tried two headers before i got the Kamikaze
both had no effect on power

when i bolted on the Kami i noticed an instant increase n torque and horsepower

i didnt say the torque was amazing, i sed it wuz better and it wuz. for being a short primary 4 to 1 its wuz great

if u kno anything about header tuning then u kno that if it has short primaries and u tune yor cams a certain way u wil benefit from the short primaries

also, the header has a long secondary which is good for balancing out the top end advantage it has with good torque

if u kno anything about engine geometry then u kno that B16s hav a rod ratio that can benefit from having short primaries because this type of header helps to scavenge the cylinder at high RPM

the ITR header was NOT good on my B16!! it did NOT do an OK job!!

i hav no experience with the DC header... but i wood not tell sumone to FORGET about it either..... another narrow minded approach to tuning... par for the course here on H-T

Just saying "the torque wuz better" means nothing. Unless you have a dyno plot to prove it "wuz better" you have no idea.

it means sumthin if both previous headers made no perceptable difference and the Kami made an instant one
