Re: K24a1 block + K20a2 head, all stock... safe redline?
Well the head, being k20a2, can obviously take a 8k rpm beating all day. The block, being a k24, can only take 6500 rpm or something, whatever the redline was from the car it came from. So the block is your limiting factor here, so you can only safely rev to 6500 or whatever the redline of the block is.
Notice I said "safely". I consider that not going beyond stock, on stock parts. If you have aftermarket parts in the block, then rev the hell out of it. If you rev the hell out of it on a stock block, you risk an early death of the motor.

i am reving my k24 with 20009 tsx pistons and 2006 tsx rods, k20z3 head with single valve springs to 7800-8k....
i have 8 hours of ROAD RACE miles on my engine with tuning and track time at this point. i checked the bearings and oil pan after 4 hours....so far everything looks good....
I would check after every weekend but am not a fan of torqueing and retorqueing stock rod bolts!!!

Re: K24a1 block + K20a2 head, all stock... safe redline?
The stock TSX k24a4 block redlines at 7100 RPM, so essentially if you want a stock bottom end for your hybrid that is the setup to go with. Or you could simply swap the TSX internals into the accord/crv block as chad did to achieve a higher redline safely.
BTW chad I just saw your numbers and they are impressive for all OEM parts. Good work.

are tsx rods really that different from the other k24 rods? Most of the time the stock rev-limit is set by the limitations of the head/valvetrain. I would expect most factory honda bottom ends to be able to take at least 1,500RPM over the stock rev limit, and this has been done many times with other honda motors. Why would the K24 be different?

Re: K24a1 block + K20a2 head, all stock... safe redline?
I revved a K24A1/K20A2 to 7500.
Only took about 6 months for it to break a rod... it was a circuit car which was raced every weekend and saw a few 10,000rpm miss shifts from various drivers.
It was an awesome and fairly inexpensive little setup. I would say 7000-7500 on a bone stock CRV block is about it's limit.

My k24a1 block with a k20a2 oil pump and k20a2 head, I rev to 8000 rpm on a daily basis. On the dyno I rev'd it up to 9000 rpm so I can see the power band.
Made 450 whp on 12 psi boost. And made 240 whp NA.
