civic starting problems
hey guys ive recently been running into a few problems starting my civic.
1. Sometimes when i crank the ignition it wont start but simply just click once. It doesnt start after that and i would have to keep cranking it and sometimes it would start.
2. After leaving the car parked for a couple of days the battery gets drained. If i dont start it for a day or 2 the battery would get drained and i would need a boost. Wha might b causing this?
this is a 94 civic btw

Re: civic starting problems
These things. When they are old and rusty and loose, current can't travel through them as well and not enough current will cause your starter to hesitate because not enough power.

Re: civic starting problems
I changed out my terminals to something like this
after a similar thing happened to me. I got them at a local hardware store in the fastners isle for like 3 bucks...(if you go to a autoparts store I think they are like 6)
the stock honda ones aren't great. Get something with a dual post bolt....
Id try cleaning what you got already first though....

Re: civic starting problems
If the terminals are fine, you may want to test for parasitic drain:

Any auto parts stores man. They are usually near batteries. Or ask them. Terminals are the clamps that are connecting the wires and the battery leads.

Are you in U.S? If so, go to Autozone, O'Reily or PepBoys, take your battery with you and ask them to test it. It's free. I think you are gonna need a new battery too since it's losing energy quickly.

Re: civic starting problems
Yea, I'm with Ron... take a multimeter and look for a parasitic draw/drain. It's easy and free and it might just solve your problem. While you've got the multimeter out, it would be a good time to test your battery and alternator too.
