D16 head on D15 Block
The title is pretty much the question at hand
will a d16 vrec head fit on a d15 block with no modification or do i need to run the vtec oil lines like on the B series dohc motors?
any and all info about this will help greatly.
Thanks for helping out.

Re: D16 head on D15 Block
it fits. its called a minime. no oil lines. take out the oiler in the block when you put the head on and you need to use the d16 timing belt, dizzy and all its atachments. you should get a z6 or y8 intake mani for it. iv never heard of vrec....

Re: D16 head on D15 Block
700 can get you a gsr block or ls motor and tranny in some places.
but on the block in the dowel pin areas there is a thingy pressed in a hole. take it out, it gets oil to the top now that you need more oil up there, no need to switch timing belts then. just put it on and wire vtec

Re: D16 head on D15 Block
just get the D16 Block and the head. There is no such thing as a non-vtec block. No Blocks have vtec. vtec is all in the head. So yes it will completely bolt up with no problems, and make a D16 VTEC motor. Now depending on the D16 Block it will yeild different amounts of power. And have a different compression ratio. What is the code on the D16 Block?

Re: D16 head on D15 Block
I just bought a car that has a D15 bottom end and Y8 head. The VTEC is not hooked up and it’s idling up and down. They said it needs an IACV (idle air control valve) 3 questions. 1- will the VTEC work on this? 2- how hard is it to hook up 3- how do I know what iacv I need?

Re: D16 head on D15 Block
vtec will work if iacv is jacked up.
very easy to wire vtec. some cars came wired for vtec to the shock tower. if you don't have it run it to the ecu. go to the junk yard and get ecu pins. make your self a vtec harness.
there are 2 types of IACV. I believe the GSR had a dif bolt pattern. idle up and down is iacv of air bubbles in coolant
