Average cost to replace CV Joint?
Is it really expensive? I was just curious because all the shops in my neighborhood are closed. It's for an eg sedan. Thanks.

Isn't a cv joint a piece on it's own? Also would it make a clicking noise when i go in a straight line? Or would that be the axle? I'm so confused.

Re: Average cost to replace CV Joint? (CRISIS)
the cv joint is part of the axle, it allows the axle to bend with the suspension, and yea it will make that clicking noise, just replace the axle, they are one in the same essentially. If you replace the axle the cv joint is replaced as well because it is part of the axle...

Then what is the piece that is behind the axle? More towards the back of the car. It has a tie rod at the end of it. The boot is busted and it started making noise. Covered it with lube and it went away. But now the sound is back. :-( Sorry i don't have any pics.

i've seen this done, but i would still just replace the axle, you have to pretty much take the old one out either way so why put one back in that might still be damaged
