abs problems
hi i used to own a prelude, long time ago i was on hondaprelude.com but now i have a 96 acura RL and i posted this https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1394197 on the RL forum, only nobody is there and the forum is really really slow so im hoping someone here can help me out.
Hi i jsut bought a 96 Rl for a really great price, but the abs light comes on about every other time i start the car. and i have no idea how to diagnose the problem or pull codes, does anybody know how to do that? also are there any common problems with the abs systems on these cars?
i got a code 18 when i jumped the abs diagnostic connector, but what does that mean?

Re: abs problems (papa_smurf)
you can greatly help yourself if you purchase the service manuals
that is unless you don't want to have the car forawhile because i dunno if the codes are the same for all hondas
first thing i bought when i bought my prelude was a helms service manual
i know there is pdf version of this because the prelude is more common car

Well, on a Prelude you jump the service connector behind the dash just like you were checking the CEL, but it works for the ABS light as well. Try jumping the service connector and see if you ABS light flashes...

yea on the last line of the post i said i jumped the connector and got a code 18 which is for the "high pressure system", i believe all the CEL/ABS/SRS diagnostic codes are the same for all applicable honda/acuras. my question is what is the "high pressure" system and what goes wrong with it to tript he light?

Sorry, I didn't read close enough. In my Helms it says that code 18 is Accumulator gas leakage, high pressure leakage is code 13.
Anyhow, it says check these items for a code 18:
-The relief plug is loose (on that oval-shaped tank)
-The relief plug o-ring is out of place
-Bleed the high pressure line with some special bleeder t-wrench.
