I would say its most likely just a faulty tach. If its still the stock gauge that is. Quality aftermarket gauges are usually spot on. Is the ECU chipped? Most chips get rid of the rev limiter though...

8,200 on second gen JDM B16s. First gen JDM and USDM B16s are either 7,800 or 8k.

VTEC with a JDM P30 is 5800. Other P30 ECUs have engagment as low as 5600 from the factory.

Could be bad plug(s), plug wire(s), dirty injector(s) or something in your distributor. Any CELs?

Why not a B16? No need to drill and tap and some-what easy to find for a descent price. I wouldn't dump a couple thousand dollars for a lay-over motor. I would rather sacrifice HP/TQ then money for...

Jackson Racing is your best bet. Unfortunatly Vortech does not make a centrifugal S- Trim blower for the K-series so your forced with a "roots" style JR unit.

Try starter fluid. If it fires, your not getting fuel(bad fuel pump,clogged injectors). If you smell gas when you keep cranking it, then it could be spark related(bad dizzy, ECU or ignition circuit)....
