Icon2 Delayed cranking when cold

I'd like to get your opinions on a problem that I've been experiencing.

The engine is a D15B7.

When it is cold, there is a very long delay between when the key is turned to START, and when the...

Re: A/C pipe connections

Yes, but the R134a will escape rapidly through the leak - and I will probably resort to that, but I was looking for a more elegant solution.

Should I replace the drier *again* because the system...

A/C pipe connections

So, I'm nearing the end of the A/C rebuild, and I can't seem to get the system to hold a vacuum. I can get it up to 25inHg of vacuum with my pump now, but when I close the valve, it leaks back down...

Re: ignition timing question on D15b

Correct.
OP was concerned: " i think its off a tooth "

I was detailing how to check that. If a poor procedure was used during the previous timing belt change, it may very well be off by a tooth...

Re: ignition timing question on D15b

First: are you sure that you're using the correct timing mark?

If you think the timing is off, verify by lining up the TDC mark on the crank with the two gunsights on the timing belt cover....

Re: A/C System Flush - which fluid to use?

I'm replacing the expansion valve and the receiver/drier, so that's taken care of. In addition to flushing, I will replace all of the o-rings.

Why were you dissatisfied with your conversion? Did...

Re: A/C System Flush - which fluid to use?

Indeed, I do know how it came to be illegal in the US.

The United States ratified the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer on September 16, 1987. This committed the US to...

[QUOTE=DSMAddicted;45694800]...have you looked into ES-12a? It's legal, compatible with all R134 systems and much more efficient:

Holy crap. ES-12a / HC-12a is a mixture of propane and...

Icon2 A/C System Flush - which fluid to use?

I need to do a flush of the A/C system ('93 del Sol) in preparation for the installation of the replacement components and charge of the system. I am going to rent the air powered flushing device...

Re: '93 del Sol - A/C - Pressure Switch Question

Let me restate my questions in simpler terms:

For the refrigerant pressure switch, (p/n: 80440-SM4-003; SWITCH, AIR CONDITIONING (DUAL) (FUJI)), which was installed in the '93 del Sol, '92-93...

Icon2 '93 del Sol - A/C - Pressure Switch Question

I am repairing the A/C in the del Sol.
I'm replacing the compressor, receiver/drier, expansion valve, and o-rings. Also recharging w/ R-134a rather than the OEM R-12. The system will be flushed in...

Re: overheating while at idle

Please don't just throw parts at it - troubleshoot!

You can take out the thermostat, put it in a pan of water with an thermometer, and observe the temperature at which it opens. This will rule out...

Re: weird A/C problem

The receiver/drier should have been replaced when the compressor was replaced. The system also should have been dried with Nitrogen and evacuated before recharging.

If the fan is turning on...

Re: car wont start

Dude, we gave you a whole bunch of things to check that could possibly be an issue.
Did you check any of them? If you don't add more info, we can't narrow down the list of possible causes.

Please...

Re: detonation causes

Why are you so certain that the sound is being caused by the engine? If you are able to rev it in neutral and it sounds fine, I would really suspect that the sound is coming from somewhere else.

Re: Replacing Del Sol Antenna

It's very simple.

The cheapest solution is to get a replacement one from crutchfield - if you're OK with a stock look. Just unplug the cable from the back of the antenna unit and replace. You...

Re: car wont start

If it clicks, I would rule out the clutch interlock.

I think that your most likely problem is your battery. Have you tried a jump start? If that doesn't work, try jump starting with your battery...

Re: car wont start

Don't assume that the battery is "fine" just because you got it charged at some point in the past. You'll need to measure the battery voltage when the ignition is at "off", "on", and "start" to...

BTW, I love the ride height of the del Sol. It's really low, but it still has oodles of ground clearance. That said, the suspension *is* pretty soft for a sporty convertible.

I guess what I'm...

Re: 1992 Honda Civic - Thrown Rod

That is a true testament to how much abuse a Honda engine can take before it dies for good. That engine might have been worth fixing before you killed it. Now it's dead.

Perhaps you should...

Re: B16 del Sol started fine and died after sitting for awhile, fuel issue?

There are three sensors in the distributor that determine the position of the crank. They are connected directly to the ECU.

BLK/YEL wire is 12v when the ignition is on.
You need to get a wiring...

Re: timing question

If you think that your mechanical timing is off, one of the easiest checks to do is a compression test. Also, make sure you got the right belt. The more difficult but better thing to do is to reset...
