the solution turned out to be cap and rotor. the points in the cap were oxidized and dirty there was also a tiny amount of oil in the cap

Well i'm not getting much in the way of response here so I'm going to just buy everything fuel related and spark related

If that doesn't fix it i'll send it back to the shop that put the gas tank...

ok update

I took the spark plugs out and sanded them and put them back in , the car now idles by itself , but will die if i press on the gas pedal , it idles fine and can just barely move if i put...

I have a 92 accord and for the first time ever in 9 years of ownership the car sputtered then died.

I leave home regularly for 1-3 months at a time leaving my car at home.The carwas running fine...

lock up works backwards

The final lock up gear in my honda works backwards basically.

When I simply cruise at 55-65 it's disengaged , when I accelerate (say from 55 to 65) it will then lock up.

92 accord lx wagon...

Ok problem solved. I changed the tcu with another 92 accord lx wagon I found at the junkyard. Even though the cars are identical the tcu's are different part numbers.

I would like to add to this thread , that my car today just did the EXACT same thing.

solid D4 light
only 2nd and 4th work
and have to manually select them , just as you describe.

Maybe check the actual buttons on the wheel with a volt meter to see if it has current to it? Check the fuse for the horns for the same? Hot wire the horn itself to make sure it works?

I have a 92 accord wagon lx auto.

I was driving 55mph when the car starting jumping back and forth between 3rd and 4th. The car did this for a few minutes after I stopped to check for any fluid...

I cannot buy a new radiator because I really have no money , for 109$ I could probably just get a new car lol.

I'll check to see if the other radiator has the hookups for the trans cooler.

1992 wagon overheating kinda

My 1992 wagon accord overheats when I'm doing highway speeds because the rpm's go so high , for some reason the automatic transmission is only 4 speed instead of 5 like a manual so when I'm going 65...

I temporarily patched the piece of rusted pipe with a piece of hose clamped over the tiny hole with a hose clamp.

however I want to eliminate that rusty section all together , can I bypass that...

Sound like it not only needs a tuneup (plugs , wires , filters , ect) but is overheating/leaking coolant too. Could also need fuel filter maybe for the lack of power.

It's leaking from the metal elbow piece because it's really rusted , rusted all the way through , not just a loose fitting. Can I just bypass that with a hose joiner?
