back to your question... everything on my cluster works except for speedo and rpms. thing is its never given me a cel cod 17 because of that.

i do have a bad cluster. could that really send a cel code to the ecu? It is a 99 SI.

cel code 17 wont go away!

i had a cel code 17 on my 1999 b16 so i replaced my vss with a brand new one from autozone and cel code poped up again and my speedo still wont work. please help.

i should also mention that after i did the b16 swap my speed cluster and rpms worked but after a while my speedo stopped working and my rpms followed months after so im almost sure its my cluster....

i took out every single 96-98 wiring and replaced it with 99-00 wiring. and i mean everything. from under dash to floor harness.. everything.

ok cool i thought it sounded wrong. just needed a 2nd opinion. to bad i dont have a code reader. how can you tell if your vss is bad?

this is why i thought maybe i could of been my cluster:

i got this off a an older post on honda tech when i googled.

"The VSS is on the back of the gauge cluster.It sends the signal to the ECU....

i got a b16a2 and i have a cel count of 17 (vss). i have a bad cluster, the speed gage wont work and rpm's gage wont work. my question is could the bad cluster be the reason why the cel code 17 goes...
