Re: lock up

A quick test: just accelerate and note the rpm when you reach 60mph. Then adjust throttle pedal slightly to keep the speed at 60mph: after a couple of seconds you should see a sudden drop in rpm...

Re: Sometimes the stick doesn't go in to 1st gear.

You can put the gear in 1st and keep the clutch pedal pressed down before the light turns green: this gives you more time to get in gear. With most of the cars having manual transmission here it is...

Re: 99' manual Accord jerks at lows speeds in 2nd

When the rpm drops below 1300 in 2e gear then you better press the clutch pedal so the car can just roll along for a couple of seconds. After that you should be able to accelerate as usual.
In 1st...

Re: Need some help figuring out where my oil leak is coming from

Yes this is probably caused by a leaking valve cover gasket. I had this problem on a F18B2 at 100K (9 years old): not a real leak yet but the gasket looked 'sweaty'.

Re: Hood has the shakes

Any chance these rubber parts are cracked or worn out? Like you said they should be supporting the hood when the sides are flush with the fenders. You could attach little rubber pads to the bottom...

Re: Hood has the shakes

On each fender about halfway between the windshield and the front of the fender there's a rubber part described as 'cushion, hood side', part# 74146-SM4-000 (sorry, I can't display the page you...

Re: Trans Cooler - necessary???

The transmission oil warms up mostly when the torque convertor is not locked-up: during moderate to heavy acceleration, uphill driving or towing a trailer.

Under normal driving conditions the...

Re: 92 Engine Squeal

x2: Do a test with the engine running at idle rpm: switch on all electric devices you can think of (headlight, rear window defroster, fog lights..). If the squealing sound gets louder then it is...

Re: Necessary to paint primered parts?

Recently I noticed my left rear door was starting to show a bit of rust on the lower part. This door had been replaced and repainted some three years ago.

The folks at the paint shop explained me...

Re: please help!!!!! 1994 accord jdm it is from japan but not right hand drive? help

Honda Japan also produces cars for oversees markets like EU and US, so it's not unusual to have a VIN starting with J for a left hand drive. Located in Europe I drive a Japan made Accord myself.

Re: 93 accord can smell gas inside

The fuel lines run under the car outside of the passenger compartment.
My guess is that you have a leak somewhere in the engine bay and that the fuel vapors are pulled in by the ventilation system....

Re: Key off battery drain in 2000 Accord?

Current draw of 250mA is way too high: it's enough power to light up a 3 watt bulb. You lose 6Ah per day so in a couple of days the battery gets drained.

Measure the current and start pulling...

Vin no. starting JHM are made in Japan. Car may be LHD or RHD depending upon the market it was made for.

Re: Hand Brake - Accord 1999 CG8

Hi again,

For the parking brake there is only one adjustment to do: just one nut located under the rear end of the center console. Maybe you have rusty parking brake cables?

Adjustment...

Re: F18B series engines - Valve Adjustment

Yes that is correct: for the F18B/F20B/F23Z the Honda shop manual says

intake: 0,26 mm +- 0,02 mm
exhaust: 0,30 mm +- 0,02 mm

which are the exact figures you have.

Valve adjustment is...

Re: 1995 Honda Accord Smoke?

Does the color of the smoke indicate what is being burned: dark color for oil, white color for coolant?

Re: 1999 Honda Accord CG8 1.8 VTEC

That really hurts! Do we have to go as far as checking the airfilter then, when we buy a car :( ?

I don't know for sure where the white smoke comes from. Best thing to do imho is to keep an eye...

Re: 1999 Honda Accord CG8 1.8 VTEC

If you want to feed more air then you could adjust the throttle cable so that the throttle valve slightly opens. (as from 2006 models there is no IACV anymore: the ECU can operate the throttle valve...

Re: 1999 Honda Accord CG8 1.8 VTEC

With a knock sensor signal missing the only thing the ECU can do is revert to 'limp' mode and throw a CEL code.

Re: 1999 Honda Accord CG8 1.8 VTEC

Thanks for correcting the pics. Yes the last pic is the IACV, there is no FITV on these cars.
Don't forget to reset the ECU after cleaning the air intake system: this way the ECU can adjust to the...

Re: 1999 Honda Accord CG8 1.8 VTEC

I think your car does have an IACV, at least my 1999 F18B2 Accord has one. It does not have a FITV.

The hole inside your throttle body near your index finger leads to the IACV (first two...

Re: Fuel level sending unit

I think it's normal, especially when the fuel level in the tank is getting low.
When driving with the back seat folded down you can actually hear the fuel slosh around in the tank.
