Re: wheel bearing replacement problem

Turns out that the top "ear" on the knuckle, that the caliper bolts on to, was bent back towards the vehicle when the bearing was pressed the first time. This is what caused the caliper to pull...

Re: wheel bearing replacement problem

I think it's the angle of the picture that's making the inner race look like that because if I'm not mistaken last time I looked at the spindle the inner race was flush with the outer race, but not a...

Re: wheel bearing replacement problem

I took it back to the shop this morning and asked them to make sure it was pressed correctly. They pressed it again and said that's all it would go without smashing the bearing. Put it back on once...

Re: wheel bearing replacement problem

There seems to be nothing wrong with the heat shield. The brake pads have plenty of meat but as I tighten the caliper bolts the rotor gets closer to the bracket and eventually makes contact. When I...

Re: wheel bearing replacement problem

Well guys I'm pretty stumped on this project. Took my spindle to another shop and had it pressed again but ran into the same problem again. I observed that as I tighten the brake caliper bolts on the...

Re: wheel bearing replacement problem

I went ahead and removed everything again and took some photos to see if it was possible to tell if the bearing wasn't pressed correctly. Is it pretty obvious?...

Re: wheel bearing replacement problem

You know what... now that I think about it I never checked the caliper bracket bolts because I removed the whole caliper by removing the two bolts that connect to the knuckle. Is it possible the...

Re: Indash Stolen!

Just got back from class and realized that the power locks only work when the car has been driven. Once I turn the car off they no longer function. Another thing is that my remote to unlock the doors...

Re: Indash Stolen!

The fuse is good. You can also hear the noise when the button is pushed, but it still stays jammed. What the hell did they do to my locks?

Re: Screeching Noise!!!

First time I drove on the highway since my brake job and my steering wheel shakes a little bit at about 70 mph. Is it necessary to balance your wheels after you've resurfaced the rotors and replaced...

Re: Screeching Noise!!!

Just completed a brake job and it resolved the problem. It seems to me that the noise was the brake pad wear sensor doing it's job. Replaced the brake pads and resurfaced the rotors using the diy in...

Re: Screeching Noise!!!

I inspected my exhaust and everything was okay. Can it be the rotors? I let up on the brake from a stop and it begins to screech. It also makes the noise when I reverse and gets worse as I speed up.

Re: Screeching Noise!!!

Yea, I'll go ahead and get under the car and check for any contact being made to any heat shields and check all the hangars. I do recall that the donut gasket where the header and downpipe meet...
