Yep exactly. From the pic it looks like half of the inner ring is out like it should be but there is a part that's pinched in and flush. I dunno it's hard to tell depth with pics. If this is how it is I can't believe it's been to the shop 3 times now and nobody caught it. This would make the hub cockeyed inside the bearing causing anything attached the hub to be cockeyed (ie rotor) as well, that seems to be the problem causing the grinding on the rotor. In your pics with everything together you can see how the rotor isn't in the middle of the caliper like it should be.

If it's flush all the way around it's still not right.

There aren't any special adapters or anything, at least none a typical shop shouldn't have, this style wheel bearing is on A LOT of Honda's so I'm sure they've done many in the past.

What kind of bearing did you use? If you're not going OEM use Timken, available at Autozone. You said the 2nd time you had it pressed you used a new bearing? Same brand? Could be a defect in that lot or just a crap bearing.

I think it's the angle of the picture that's making the inner race look like that because if I'm not mistaken last time I looked at the spindle the inner race was flush with the outer race, but not a bit more up like you said it should. The first time I pressed the bearing I used an oem one from the dealer and the second time I took it I used a bearing from O Reily's because the nearest dealer is 50 miles away and I needed the car soon. This is the bearing I used the second time around http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...0055&ppt=C0337

Yeah same problem with two different bearing's I'm not sure....need to know for sure if the inner/outer races are flush. As you can see in the pic of the bearing the inner race should be up a bit out of the box, it's possible that when pressing the inner race was smashed in.

Do you still have the OEM bearing you tried the first time? Are the inner/outer races as they should be on it?

Have you discovered where it's grinding? Before you take everything apart spin the tire by hand (make sure it's in neutral), does it grind then? Or is it only when the brakes are applied?

Turns out that the top "ear" on the knuckle, that the caliper bolts on to, was bent back towards the vehicle when the bearing was pressed the first time. This is what caused the caliper to pull towards the rotor and eventually scrape. Looks like I'll be ordering a new knuckle and heading back to the first shop that pressed the bearing and raise hell!!! Thanks for all your help guys.

Yeah that sucks man, it would seem like the guy didn't have the press set up right.

You can always get a junk yard knuckle and save yourself a ton of cash.

I just read through this and immediately thought that they bent the knuckle doing the pressing! That sucks, but they should definitely make it right for you. Also, make sure they use a shop manual that shows how to properly set up the press and what to press against
