Re: price for head gasket repair?

Here are my thoughts... Take the money you were going to spend on a radiator and pay a qualified tech to properly diagnose the problem. I would charge 30 min. to an hour of labor for something like...

Re: 92 GSR knock sensor problem

No, jumping the 2 pins together with a paper clip in the 2 wire service connector to check codes for an obd1 car.

Re: Random Misfire on cylinder 1,2 & 4 Help!!!

You need a timing light to check ignition timing. Also, like I said before, you need to actually confirm which cylinders are misfiring instead of relying on the codes. It could just be 1 dead...

Re: 92 GSR knock sensor problem

My obd1 Accord has no lit CEL, but if you jump the connector it shows an EGR code, so check anyway.

Re: Lower radiator hose doesn't heat up? No overheating though.

It depends what the coolant temp. is. If it isn't getting hot enough to open the thermostat, that's fine. If temp. is above the thermostat temp. rating, it's bad. If you're concerned at all, change...

Re: new motor or new head gasket

There are no replaceable cam bearings on these engines. If the cam journals are screwed up you need a new head (rare). If they're not leaking, I'd personally leave the valves alone and just have the...

Re: odb1 scanners

There is an adaptor with the modis called "hon-1" that plugs right in. No hacking required, it plugs into the 3 wire connector that's next to the 2 wire service connector on the passenger side. It...

Re: help! b16a smoking BADDDD!

White smoke is not always a headgasket. Your car is most likely running extremely rich and the smoke/smell is from raw fuel. That would also explain why the plugs are soaked. Can you feel a misfire?...

Re: Oil Leak after Cleaning The Engine?

Definitely not the rear main seal. It's hard to tell in the pic, bit it looks like a leaking distributor o-ring or a headgasket.

Re: bad wheel bearing after new wheels?

Rotate the tires front to back and see if anything changes.

Re: Ecu code 67 long term effects of not fixing it.

^^ Agreed. You'll only have issues if it clogs the exhaust, which will be very noticeable with bogging/power loss.

Re: bad wheel bearing after new wheels?

What condition are the tires? If the noise wasn't there before, it's almost certainly a tire problem.

Re: price for head gasket repair?

Before you go replacing the headgasket, have you confirmed that it's leaking? There are a lot of things that can make a car overheat.

Re: have these codes... is it a bad cat converter

Sorry I wasn't paying enough attention about the cat already being diagnosed. It shows on the chart that p0170 code is a pending code for either rich OR lean. It would be helpful to figure out which...

Re: 1994 Honda accord failed smog

Where are you located? If you're in Cali, things can get expensive since you pretty much have to buy an OEM Honda cat. If not in Cali, try discountcatalyticconverters.com I've used them a couple...

Re: new motor or new head gasket

Head gaskets are easy on B series engines, so it's worth fixing IF the motor is in otherwise good condition. If there are other engine problems, a ton of miles, driven a long time with the bad...

Re: Civic Injector #2 issues

Leave the injector plugged in and either back probe the connector (preferred method) or use a piercing probe. You want the circuit to stay connected.

Key on engine off, check to make sure there...

Re: Brakes Scraping

Something could be stuck in there, a backing plate could be bent against a rotor, or pads could be on the wear indicators.

Obviously inspect everything, but narrow down which corner the noise...

Re: B20 vtec idles great, revs rough

Agreed. The fuel requirements at idle are low, so the car runs fine. As soon as there's load everything leans out. Get it tuned. You simply can't use a stock ecu on a hybrid semi-built engine and...

Re: odb1 scanners

There is nothing in the $100's range I've ever heard with that capability. Most people believe nothing will work for obd1 Hondas, but that isn't true. My Snap-on Modis will do it, but I payed $4100...

Re: Check engine light flashed and now its on for good??

Yes I realize the paper clip is basically free and autozone will tell you the codes for free. My point is there is a ton of useful information that you are ignoring by not using a scan tool....

Re: 93 INTEGRA CLUTCH STUCK ???

The first thing to try is adjusting the clutch cable. There's a knob on the cable at the tranny that you turn to loosen/tighten it. I got a guy to take $1000 off his asking price on my old DA because...

Re: Check engine light flashed and now its on for good??

True, but they're so cheap now that there's no excuse not to have one, IF you plan to work on your own obd2 car. This one is $48 and I use it every day for quick checks when I don't feel like hooking...

Re: squishy brake pedal?

A washer on 1 side won't have anything to do with a fluid leak. The only place fluid should get in/out is the reservoir cap. A lot of times people don't notice a leaking MC because the fluid just...

Re: Random Misfire on cylinder 1,2 & 4 Help!!!

The biggest problem is most people don't understand the amount of things that can cause misfires. No offense to the OP, but he is a good example of what most people do- throw parts at the problem...
