Re: NSX Koni/GC problem. Looking for input.

Why would you not consider the extended top hats? They should be compatible with that drop range, and they will move the bumpstop upward. Using a shorter shock shaft will gain room too, but its...

Re: Koni Str.T vs KYB AGX?

I have a 2000 si, so its a coupe. The koni str.t's were on oem springs, which are 201# front and 99# rear progressive springs....plus massive bumpstops.

Re: Koni Str.T vs KYB AGX?

Yea, I know there's a lot of parts can make noise back there, but I took the shocks off the car and removed them from the springs. Just pushing the piston in by hand made a ton of noise at the top...

Re: Koni Str.T vs KYB AGX?

I had Koni Str.T's on my 2000 civic and they sucked big time. After about 1000 miles, the rears started squeaking really bad, then 1000 mi later the fronts started squeaking. Greasing the shock...

Re: Main Relay Failure

oh man, yea I forgot about the heat expanding the crack in the solder joint. My friggin car would never start on hot sunny days when the interior of the cabin heated up the relay.

Re: Headers for EM1

I went with a ceramic DC header on my si when the bolts sized in my stock 2-piece header/a-pipe that I didn't want to mess with anymore. It's been fine for a few years of weekend use, garage kept.

Re: Main Relay Failure

I'm digging way back in the memory banks here, but on my previous 90 accord it was typically a start issue. If the problem had included failures during driving, it would have been a huge...

Re: Black spray from exhaust

That was happening on my b16 when my primary o2 sensor was dying and running the engine rich. When you run rich, you get black deposits throughout the exhaust...then on startup, when it spits out...

Re: suspension noise

Sway bars have a funny way of making knocking noises. I would double check all the torques on the endlinks.

Re: how many miles on your starter/alternator?

You think like me. At 200k, I would change them both out when you have the time and nice weather. This stuff inevitably fails at the worst possible time.

I change out the radiator at the timing...

Re: Distributor rotor fell off, now low compression???

OP, you probably fried your coil and/or ignitor. It would be similar to trying to run the car with a spark plug wire removed.

As far as the compression numbers, it sounds like you were rushed and...

Re: Koni Ground Control install

FWIW, Not sure if they're machining the sleeves tighter nowadays, but I tried the single layer of electrical tape (no overlap) on the shock body as shown in the original post to keep the sleeve from...

Re: Koni yellow and gc help

x2, if they came from different SHOCKS, then they wont fit koni's properly. IMHO, in the OP's defense, Ground Control does a terrible job showing this distinction on their website.

Re: Koni yellow and gc help

Wait, you left the spring perches on the koni yellows?? GC sleeves go on without those perches and bear on the koni circlips.

You may already be aware but worth a mention that you have to use...

Re: Flywheel or input shaft?

What happens if you put light pressure on the clutch pedal? aka, not enough to disengage the clutch, but enough to start squeezing the throwout? Sometimes throwouts are just loose an noisy.

Re: Ground Control stuck to Tokico Blues (no pun inteded)

Do those sleeves even have the machined lip on them to work with the konis? Worth noting that not all GC's come with that lip.

Re: Race valved Koni Yellows, bump stop

Are you talking about bump stops provided by GC? If so, those would already be shorter than stock, so no, you wouldn't want to cut those down any further. If you're talking about stock length bump...

Lol, actually its just that you're getting old. I've been on this site for over a decade.... you speak as if the honda-tech archives are bursting with useful information and are void of post whores...

Re: Left Front Shock Knocks During Full Clock Turns

Is the top nut on the shock tight? Maybe there's slop up there that only reveals itself when you take weight off that corner.

Re: Bolt stuck in bushing and rotating

Glad it worked out. I used that same cordless saw. Antiseize and/or silicone on the new bolt shaft so it doesn't happen again!

Re: mcmaster carr bolts

It's the inside surfaces of the bushing collars that rust more than the bolts IMHO, what you gonna do, get stainless bushings? Even if you get a bolt with infinite strength, a seized bushing collar...

Re: Bolt stuck in bushing and rotating

Ha, yea, cutting the LCA out gave me a bit more room to operate, plus I was pissed off from dealing with seized bolts.

The compensator is at the front end of the trailing arm. Bolt is threaded...

Re: Bolt stuck in bushing and rotating

Burning the bushing out does nothing but make it harder for you to cut out the bolt cleanly. You're right, it's not likely going to release the sleeve from the bolt shaft. My bolts were friggin...

Re: mcmaster carr bolts

McMaster is great, but I would not buy anything other than OEM for suspension bolts. So much stress and fatigue conditions I personally would not want to select an improper grade. Might be strong...
