Re: Bad noise turning slightly right

What would the dust shield be hitting on as I turn hardly right?

The noise is way worse, and I've deemed my car not drivable. I'm thinking it's an axle, so I'll probably fix replace it this week...

Re: Bad noise turning slightly right

Just thought I would clarify by saying it's worst when I take a corner to the right and put more weight on the front left wheel. No noise when the car is lifted and the wheel has no weight on it.

Bad noise turning slightly right

I have a civic with the integra ls drive train. A bad noise occurs from the driver side front wheel when I turn slightly to the right from a crawl to ~30. The noise sounds like metal on metal...

Re: How should I make this? CNC Endmill? (Nonhonda)

So the correct process is to order blanks, finish the fork, then use a crown race cutter to put the finished dimension on? If I can order blanks, I could probably finish the forks and have a bike...

Re: CAD/CNC Machining Projects

I thought I'd post up these; just some free style scooter pegs I sell. They are as simple as any part can get. I'm getting quotes from shops who have a bar feeder lathe for a new product I'm working...

Re: How should I make this? CNC Endmill? (Nonhonda)

Yes, I can make the tube 1.125. I'm saying when I order it, the actual OD of the tube is ~1.130.

Re: How should I make this? CNC Endmill? (Nonhonda)

Hmmm, ID just slides over 1-1/8 OD tube. Unfortunately, 1-1/8" is never exactly 1.125, the 4130 I order is ~1.3025". By the way, I'm looking to make about 60 of these pieces.

Re: How should I make this? CNC Endmill? (Nonhonda)

Sorry, just a typo. I was hoping cutting them on a mill could speed up the process and keep setup time to a minimum. I did get recommended to turning on a lathe and finishing on a cylindrical...

How should I make this? CNC Endmill? (Nonhonda)

I need to make this part. It's a lower bearing race; this piece is welded to a bike fork, so the crown from the headset bearings can be pressed on(normally a .001-.004" press fit). I've talked to two...

Re: 6061 vs 5052 aluminium

I know you already chose the material, but this site has helped me out in so many ways; maybe it will help you sometime. Awesome place to find material data in a jiffy.

Check out...

Re: Some non Honda Machine work

Just curious, 7075 machines nicer than 6061, correct? Is it possible to hold closer tolerances with 7075 opposed to 6061? Thanks

Re: Could use some help with fabricating processes

Technically I could do that. However, I do build the weld up in order to machine the lower bearing race. As far as cosmetics go, the part looks much better with the round and the weld built up on...

Re: Could use some help with fabricating processes

Thanks for the info, I'm going to go check out some water jet places this week. Hopefully there will be some local shops who water jet.

Re: Could use some help with fabricating processes

I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote all that. Let me try again. I've never used a chop saw. Is it possible to cut true on a cheaper chop saw? Is a carbide tipped blade necessary or does an...

Could use some help with fabricating processes

Hey there guys, a couple of you may have seen my older posts about some other parts I was working on. I've been working on making some freestyle scooter parts for a while now, but when it comes to...

I thought I would bump this up. I haven't been able to fix it yet. Any responses would be awesome.

Re: How do I clean up aluminum welds?

I would not quench after a 400°F as it would be pointless. I would heat the piece to 400°F until even heat which would be around an hour(I would heat in a furnace). This method will actually lower...

"With...

Re: How much is professional TIG welder per hour?

I can't believe I forgot about ef-honda! I'll post up on there shortly. The only way I've been getting my 6061 is to order from Alro through Central Iron and Steel which is a royal pain and takes...

I completely understand where you're coming from with the wrong prepping; I don't think I'm like that. I'm not trying to over complicate this small project, but I'm low on money because I'm out of...
