A/T accumulator

I have a '98 EX V6, and it sometimes has a hard shift to 2nd. After driving for a while, it's not as bad. I called a dealer, and they said that it's likely a stuck accumulator, but that it doesn't...

Re: how many miles does your accord have on it?

Oh, so you're just getting it broke in?

I'm at less than half that, but still running ... 170k on a 2000 SE

Re: ECM failure - can I swap & do I need to reprogram?

OK, that makes sense. They probably code the VIN into the ECM. I'm sure it has something to do with making sure the car isn't stolen or something.

Re: ECM failure - can I swap & do I need to reprogram?

I got a new ecm for my car, exact replacement. I talked to the dealer, and they'll reprogram it for me for $100, but they said they need the car to do it. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. ...

Re: ECM failure - can I swap & do I need to reprogram?

Yup, I figured that would be the case, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks, Ghost.

Re: ECM failure - can I swap & do I need to reprogram?

Yeah, it does have an immobilizer so it will need to be reprogrammed. I'm just not sure how picky I have to be when finding a replacement. Can I pull one from an LX? EX? Etc?

Mine's a 4cyl,...

ECM failure - can I swap & do I need to reprogram?

I just had the CEL come on this morning. I had the codes checked, P1607 (ECM circuit failure) & P1259 (VTEC system malfunction). I'm guessing the P1259 comes from the ECM failing.

I've called...

Re: 6th gen Accord rear disc conversion

Not exactly what you would call a simple task, eh? Personally, I like Option 1 the best, since I just dropped a bunch of money on new wheels. It would suck to have to get new 5-lug wheels.

Re: 5 speed swap h23 transmission into 6th gen Accord

Thanks for all your help. Checking out the salvage yard tomorrow. :drink:

Re: 92 Accord CV Boot vs Axle

A Haynes manual will show you how to clean it and service the outer boot. You can just remove the outer boot, clean it, grease it, and put another boot on it. There's a special tool that you need...

Re: '96 Accord trans slipping and hard shifting

I drained and refilled mine, and it was suggested to do it once a year. Based on what you and others have said, I'd give it time to circulate and drain it as soon as you have time. Maybe be gentle,...

Re: 5 speed swap h23 transmission into 6th gen Accord

Yeah, I'm not looking for that kind of mod. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have some fun too. But I need money for fun. And that doesn't happen unless my car gets me to work every week. So this...

Re: 5 speed swap h23 transmission into 6th gen Accord

Not exactly that kind of 'salvage yard.' It's a U-Pull-It yard. So whatever you can find that you like, ... you guessed, bring your tools and go get it yourself.

Good to know about the slave...

Re: 5 speed swap h23 transmission into 6th gen Accord

EXACTLY what I was thinking. If I can find something worth while, I thought I'd grab it. The salvage yard I go to is nice enough to put stickers on the vehicles with a Year, Make, Model, and...

Re: 5 speed swap h23 transmission into 6th gen Accord

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to skimp on a good tranny. There's a U-pull-it salvage yard nearby, and tranny's are $75. I figured I'd look around and see if I got lucky. Maybe there's a...

Re: how many miles does your accord have on it?

147k and counting. If I'm lucky, I'll drive it 'til I'm dead. Don't want to get any scratches on the Ferrari...

Re: 98-02 Honda Accord Manual trans question

That's what I was trying to say, but you explained it much better. Semi rigs are the same way, and even worse. The engine speed for each gear is much narrower so you have to match your rpms to your...

Re: Need to change trans fluid.. used wrong stuff!

Could be that the Ford ATF was too viscous and didn't lubricate properly. Small passageways don't get enough flow with high viscosity. Since you've driven it so much like that, it may have damaged...

Re: 5 speed swap h23 transmission into 6th gen Accord

Based on that, my best bet is probably to go with an F22 type. I haven't done any mods yet. I do a LOT of highway driving and though I would like more performance, it probably doesn't make a lot of...

Re: I can't figure out the search feature...

Thanks for the codes. Found in Wikipedia, mine's a ULEV, so it's an F23A4, CG5 chassis.

Looking for a daily driver, but I don't mind more performance if the cost isn't outrageous.

Yes it's...

Re: Need to change trans fluid.. used wrong stuff!

Heat... great post. Thanks. I have an AT that I want to swap in my 6th gen Accord SE. Known AT problems and Honda extended the warranty on it. I think it's a servo issue. I was way over anyway,...

Re: 5 speed swap h23 transmission into 6th gen Accord

Wow, great info. I misread what was on Wikipedia. You're right, the H22 (according to Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_H_engine) has 190bhp, where the H23A1 only has 160. I wasn't...

Re: 98-02 Honda Accord Manual trans question

My Accord is an AT, but I have a '90 Mazda pick up that drives similar. A family member drives an 04 Audi and it runs pretty much the same way. A lot of vehicles have a tranny that doesn't let you...

Re: I can't figure out the search feature...

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I pretty much came to the same conclusion. I don't really like the new Search. I managed to figure things out to get a bit better results, but not much. I'll stick...
