yes it goes into closed loop, and engine temp runs according to scanner 195-202 degrees on the highway

The tires are brand new Firestone Affinity.

I cant wait to see how the scan gauge compares to the real gas mileage.

No I haven't. I was using the average, and current mileage the gauge shows.

I will do that on the trip this Friday.

rotor, cap, plugs and wires, and air filter were replaced last week, and timing checked. Changed oil and switched to Mobil one oil, and Puralator Synthetic...

My son's 2000 civic has always worn out the left front tire on the inside. It was not too bad when he lived in town, but now that he is three hours away, the highway trips are eating the tire up.

Sorry, lol, not real familiar with the EGR system.
I had the EGR valve off and didn't want to clean it for fear all the crud would end up in the oil pan.

I feel like a dumb ass. HAHA

On my daughter's car the passage under the EGR valve is blocked. Does this crud stand the chance to block the oil pick up screen.

How long do the brushes need to be?

Tyson, no wrecks. We've had this car for two years and has been aligned 3-4 times and never a problem.

Dual 500, they gave us the spec sheet, and the right rear -2.1 camber -.55 toe.

well turned off the CEL, drove it 15 minutes CEL back on. autozone checked it and P1491 pops up. i just undid the negative battery cable, instead of the fuse, hopefully it just didn't clear out. ...

You will have to remove the intake manifold and clean out the ports. The main one from the head to the valve. Then take the maifold apart and clean out the second set of runners for the egr valve....

all ports are clean. cleaned the connector that sits under the egr valve, and sprayed carb cleaner into the egr valve which was pretty clean.
i did find the clamp that connects the air intake to...

is there any preventive measures to keep this from happening again. seems like this is a repeating problem.

egr valve is new, cat. is new, 1st o2 sensor is new.
what else could make it throw this code?
i don't see where i can get to egr ports to clean them. i am at a loss...
