ADVICE. Fuel Filter replacement Accord
My daughter is leaving in a week to start Pharmacy school, and her car, 99 model, has 185,000 miles on it, and we are the second owner.
I have done all the preventive maintenance I can do short of the fuel filter. I don't know if the fuel filter was ever changed.
So, Would you replace it, or leave it to chance.
She will be living three hours away, and as you can see, I wont be able to just drive across town, and work on it.
I haven't called the dealer to check if the filter is sold by itself, anyone know?
Thanks

Re: ADVICE. Fuel Filter replacement Accord
From my understanding the fuel filter is a lifetime unit, it does not need to be replaced BUT If replacing it will help you sleep good at night, do it. I've never done mine because of the location and the car runs fine with 200,xxx miles.
I'm curious have you done the timing belt?

Depends where it's located. If it's easy to acess then do it, if not and car runs good, skip it or pay a shop to do it.

Re: ADVICE. Fuel Filter replacement Accord
I just had my 97 done. It is in a very bad location but with 165k miles I went with the premium Wix replacement. We blew out all the junk from the old filter and there was ALOT of sediment in it.
Think about it this way. If your fuel filter is clogged it causes the fuel pump to work harder to force the fuel through the filter. This can cause a shorter lifespan on the fuel pump. Hence why I decided to have my filter replaced.

6th gen accord 98-02 doesnt have anything you'd call a filter, theres like a little mesh baggy that goes on the fuel intake straw but that is about it
