It's in! There's still plumbing and wiring to finish, but this is the final physical install. So final, in fact, that I gave the...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

For those who weren't following along with the video series, it was very close. I ended up renting a car for that event, and skipping the next one, and have been waiting for suspension parts to come...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

About to finish up footage for the Day 3 episode, but the build is coming along pretty nicely. 3 planned work-days remaining.

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

We're still going strong. I'm trying to get a video published every day 'till the race starts.

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

I couldn't just leave that antenna hole open to the elements, and let the car rot from the inside after fixing all the things that were wrong with it. I broke out the hand tools, welder, and angle...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

It's crunch time. 21 days before the first event, and lots to do. If anyone's in New England, I'll provide great burgers and beer to anyone who wants to come out and spend a weekend helping. Because...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

Some of you may already know that I've been thrashing to prepare another car for the hillclimb car. Recent events mean that the CRX is getting bumped up to priority #1 for awhile, which is good ......

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

That's just the muffer, but thanks just the same. I'll get it on the car eventually, but the exhaust I have works just fine.

Today I mostly fought my old, cheap Harbor Freight batteries....

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

Today was a lot less exciting. I've been frustrated by having to park inside the garage, because the driver's window was ... wonky. I knew one of the two mounting tabs had broken off of the old...

Runs, drives well. More video editing required before I can post the series.

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

The next hillclimb video will show just how unprepped the road actually is. You guys don't really get 'seasons' in the Central Valley, so you may not be familiar with the glory that is frost heaves...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

Playback is at 30%. At full-speed, it takes less than a second for most of these cars to move forward the first car-length. The Super Chicken (the AWD twin-Subaru-turbo'd Audi-powered monstrosity)...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

Sorry for the downtime, I got a little distracted with our rules/awards banquet coming up this weekend. I just put together a video from the 2015 race season, just a series of slow-motion startline...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

I'm going to re-make my seat mount tonight or tomorrow, I'm waiting on a fuel filler hose, and I need to fix the window tracks ... then it's done.

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

I seriously considered it, but it'd definitely collect water and re-rust that way. I'll grind it down a bit, throw some seam sealer at it, and whatever paint I have lying around. Agricultural repair...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

Well, I used .023 solid wire and 75/25 gas for this. I considered using flux core originally, because I didn't have a bottle to go on the Hobart 140. I really could've spent more time fitting it up,...

You should throw rocks at him ... or her, if it's three owners ago.

Hey now, I know I could've prepped a bit more, but it's not THAT ugly, is it?

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

That's most of what I did this weekend. I cleaned and organized the garage a bit, and sold off a few leftover parts from previous projects. I really need to finish organizing, or just break down and...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

I like those quite a bit, and $300 is a good price on them. We'll see where this build progresses, but that's on my radar now.

Today, I paused the core of the project and took a ride down to a...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

It looks like a really thin anodization job, not much of an affected hardening layer.

I've tossed the idea of trying to use Facebook to sell things altogether. Patreon is much better suited to the...

Re: Driven Daily IDGAF CRX

Woke up at 3am this morning to get a bit more done on the CRX.

I added a few more welds (it's just getting late enough that I don't mind bothering the neighbors with grinding)....
